Colleagues,

I am sorry to deliver the following news from our colleague and friend Dan 
Wyman.
Dan's wife, Jenny Keller, died on Saturday at their home. It was 
unexpected, but,
not a shock, as she was very sick and had been for a long time. She was 39.

"The kids and I are managing, actually. I think that, perhaps, because we
experienced how sick she really was, day in and day out, it is easier to
believe it is real, even if we are still crushed. We all knew it was always
a real possibility. Her family, who are here or on their way, are,
completely devastated."
"Jenny had been up and down a great deal over the past 3 years, and even
three weeks ago she and I had dinner out and a really nice week with the
kids and doing the things many families do."

Areyvut's 2006 "A-Kindness-A-Day Calendar: 365 Ways to Make the World 
a Better Place" is now available.  The calendar

I've been asked to prepare a workshop dealing with collection 
development geared towards new Judaica school librarians.I would

Hi all,
I as wondering if anyone knows of a way to disable MSN Messenger on 
Windows XP?
I am a librarian at an elementary school and this has become a real 
problem for us with some students.
I know this isn't exactly on topic for these listservs, but I thought 
someone might have an idea how to go about this.

[ha-Safran]: Convention hotel reservations

I went to the convention website today.

Is there a way to find out the price of hotel
reservations before starting the reservation process?
(I guess one can always proceed as far as seeing the
price, and then "cancel.")

Is there a deadline after which the hotel will not
continue to have a special convention rate?

[ha-Safran]: Author contracts

Does anyone have a copy of a contract they use for a visiting author?
I am looking for something that includes items dealing with 
exclusivity (i.e. if a host Library is paying the expenses, then the 
author does/does not have the right to speak in another venue for 
further income, with the exception possibly of bookstores) and other clauses.

I am also seeking an "author - residence" .contract as well.

Please either post them for everyone or send them on to me at the

[ha-Safran]: Children's Books

[Rose Myers]

A stamp collector came across Israeli stamps for Children's books 
1984 (3 stamp set) and 1995 (3 stamp set), which are apparently based 
on these stories. Does anyone have any further information about 
them? I think he'd like to read the stories in English.
