re [ha-Safran]: Donations
Hello Helen, The organization Jewish Prisoner Services International (JPSI) is always looking for donations of Jewish books as well as ritual items - things they refer to as Dormant Judaica. I have found it a good place to which to send overflow items where they will be appreciated. Check out their web site for more information: http://www.jewishprisonerservices.org/ B'shalom, Natalie (Avocational librarian - worked in a pediatric medical library for over two decades; also an active member of the library committee of my shul - Mishkan Shalom in Philadelphia - for almost a decade now, and a chaplain) -- NATALIE L. [ha-Safran]: Further Clarifications on New AJL Dues Structure
Hello. Members have been sending in questions about our new membership structure. This is not surprising, since the structure has changed quite a bit. I welcome all questions. I recently clarified one matter -- the definition of retired for dues purposes. I would like now to clarify the relation between individual memberships and institutional memberships. There may be a few institutions that wish to pay the supplemental $30 fee for employees so that they can pay at the member's rate for the employee's convention registration. Most members, regardless of whether their institution is a member, maintain their own personal membership. The new rate for personal membership (with the exception of retirees and students) is $70. This rate is not affected by any decisions by the person's institution. Jim Rosenbloom -- James P.
