[ha-Safran]: Holocaust books for teens

2010-03-22 Thread Linda Murray
I am looking for a Holocaust book for teens to replace The Devil's
Arithmetic. The instructor is looking for a male protagonist.

The books I have thought of so far are:

Daniel's Story
Daniel, Half Human and the Good Nazi

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Just an added note, Michelle was a speaker at our temple and she was
wonderful. The book has been a big hit with our congregants.

Re: [ha-Safran]: Holocaust Books for children

2009-10-29 Thread Linda Murray
There are so many better books to teach the lessons of the Holocaust
than those listed. My personal favorite story and one that I think
really touches a child is Hana's Suitcase by Karen Levin. It
brings the story of the Holocaust, so huge a concept to grasp when
first introduced, to a more intimate level. The lessons we try to
teach are seem to be most meaningful when they are about children
similar in age to those reading the book.
