[ha-Safran]: Facebook Friday
Safranim, In an effort to promote AJL, AJL personnel and AJL expertise through social media, I spend a lot of time reviewing the latest and greatest ideas that other social media folks have come up with, and one that's gained some currency lately has been the idea of Facebook Friday. Basically, the idea is to recruit an expert who's willing to host an hour-long Q&A session on Facebook, where people would come to ask questions and have them answered in real time. You can see an article about Facebook Friday and how it can help promote an organization online here: http://www.socialmediaexaminer.com/facebook-friday-expert-sessions/ I'd like to try running a few Facebook Fridays with AJL. But I need an expert! Is there someone who'd like to do this? Your expertise can be in any area and we can talk privately about what you'd like to talk about. AJL has so many great, talented librarians and has so much to offer. The Facebook page is popular and a great venue for interacting with others; let's combine those strengths and see what we can do. Thanks and have a great day, Marie Cloutier AJL Administrative Consultant -- www.bostonbibliophile.com Twitter: BostonBibliophl --- Messages and opinions expressed on Hasafran are those of the individual author and are not necessarily endorsed by the Association of Jewish Libraries (AJL) === Submissions for Ha-Safran, send to: hasaf...@osu.edu SUBscribing, SIGNOFF commands send to: Listproc @ lists.acs.ohio-state.edu Questions, problems, complaints, compliments;-) send to: galron.1 @ osu.edu Ha-Safran Archives: Current: http://www.mail-archive.com/hasafran%40lists.acs.ohio-state.edu/maillist.html History: http://www.mail-archive.com/hasafran%40lists.acs.ohio-state.edu/history.html AJL HomePage http://www.JewishLibraries.org

I too, have had trouble getting on to Facebook, though fortunately I've get to crash. Think I'll let it rest for a while. RE: [ha-Safran]: Facebook
In connection with this, on Monday I received a message on Facebook from a childhood friend whom I have known on Facebook since Day One. The message contained a link and read, "Hey, Phil - Check this out! Bob" Unsuspecting, I clicked on it and my filters caught it as a virus. Before deleting it, I sent Bob a message - and he replied that he had no idea what I was talking about! Rita is right - Be very careful! [ha-Safran]: Facebook
Hey colleagues, It appears that somehow an extremely nasty virus attack got through all my protections and corrupted my computer in ways neither Jerry nor I have ever seen before. Both the desktop and the laptop are now with the Geeks being totally overhauled. Strangely, the problem began the instant I subscribed to Facebook, which itself offered me nothing but grief whenever I tried to sign on. Changed password 5 times and nothing helped. After the first day, couldn't confirm for any of you who tried to befriend me. And then the entire computer blew...red screen, red letters, the whole disaster scenario. When I told the Geeks the only thing new just before the trouble started was I had signed on to Facebook, they said that recently they had seen a number of messed up computers in which Facebook seemed to have opened a door for big problems. So, I've decided I'm outta Facebook for now. I may try again later, but would all my present and wannabe Friends please consider me as having lost Face...I'm too annoyed to want to risk it again. And be careful out there...
