[ha-Safran]: Survey of English language libraries in Israel

2011-07-11 Thread Diane Romm
AACI, the Association of Americans and Canadians in Israel is
conducting a survey of English language libraries and library
collections across Israel, with the goal of assessing the current
situation, and analyzing implications for the future. We hope the
resulting information will enable policy makers to reach informed
decisions about English reading, libraries and literacy in Israel.

The project is being coordinated by Sandra Shechory, is funded by the
Joseph and Harvey Meyerhoff Family Foundation, and is under the
supervision of Josie Arbel, AACI Director of Klitah Services and Programs.

If you know of English language libraries and English library
collections in Israel, please send any information you have to Sandra
at libraryassessm...@aaci.org.il

[ha-Safran]: Survey for Jewish history/culture and Web 2.0technologies

2010-05-03 Thread Amalia S. Levi
Could you please take twenty minutes to participate in a survey about
your work and research in Jewish history/culture and your use of and
attitude towards Web 2.0 technologies?
We are investigating how professionals, scholars, researchers,
students, and lay people working in fields related to Jewish history
and culture can benefit from Web 2.0 technologies and social media,
in order to virtually bring together the historical record of Jewish
communities and how archivists and information professionals can
become catalysts in this process by creating digital archives and
platforms, transcending temporal, geographical and linguistic barriers.
This information will be used to better understand trends in Jewish
scholarship and to further the idea of the creation of collaborative
platforms or digital archives for historians, scholars, and people
who are involved in the study of Jewish history and culture.

You can access the survey here: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/FNKHF6P

Thank you for your time and for participating in this study. Should

[ha-Safran]: Survey

2010-02-28 Thread Susan Dubin
Could you please post this survey on your mailing list.

Thank you,

Magda El-Sherbini

Ohio State University
--
Colleagues,

We are writing and invite you to participate in a brief survey on the
application of Non-English Subject access to the bibliographic
records on library catalog. There are only 12 questions, and the
survey will take fewer than 5 minutes to complete. Participation is
voluntary. There will be no personal identification questions asked
throughout the survey, and in any case, the response will be kept confidential.

This survey investigates on how library users, like you, are
accessing non-English, especially non-Roman language materials by
subject and will determine the needs to add non-English subject
headings to bibliographic records. Also, the investigation will
reveal if user would prefer to access library materials by subject
through social tagging or any other manners of non-controlled vocabularies.

We appreciate your willingness to participate in this survey, and we
thank you in advance for your time. Please feel free to contact us if
you have any specific questions.

This is an online survey form posted on Google Docs:
http://spreadsheets.google.com/viewform?formkey=dEFET3JTRGRfZ2NQRGl0RWluZlRXRUE6MA
(Click on the Submit button under the form when you are done)

If you prefer, we would be happy to send a paper copy in the mail so
that it could be completed without using electronic communications,
or to send the survey as an email attachment.

The open of the survey has been extended to March 10, 2010

[ha-Safran]: Survey on Language and Identity

2008-07-13 Thread Marga Hirsch
Begin forwarded message:

You are invited to participate in an interesting and entertaining survey
about language. Essentially, we're asking about the spread of Yiddish
(and some Hebrew) among English speakers in North America. We're
turning to both Jews and non-Jews to answer questions like these: Who
uses Yiddish words like "shmooze" and "daven" and phrases like "Money,
shmoney"? Why do some people say "temple" while others say "shul"? Who
prefers biblical names for their babies? Your responses will help us
answer these and other questions, and you might learn something about
yourself in the process. Please set aside 15-20 minutes, and click on
this link to participate.

http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=9eQwWyblG_2b8ixLqbt6QFhg_3d_3d

Please forward this e-mail to your friends and family. We are hoping to
get thousands of responses from people of all religions, ages, and
regions of the United States and Canada. If you have any questions,
feel free to e-mail Prof. Sarah Bunin Benor <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> or Prof.
Steven M. Cohen <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>.

Sincerely,

[ha-Safran]: Survey

2006-06-08 Thread Judy Greenblatt
The President of the Bureau of Jewish Education has asked that we prepare a
survey on the use of the library -- how it has been used, whether it meets
the needs of our clientele, and how our clientele would like us to better
serve them.

I would appreciate it if anyone who has such a survey prepared, or has
experience with such a survey, would contact me.

Thank you.

[ha-Safran]: Survey of school libraries

2006-05-10 Thread Susan Morrison
Dear all,

Our school is doing a self study in preparation for a visit by W.A.S.C.
(Western Association of Schools and Colleges), who will assess our
school.

I'd like to compare our library with others similar to ours.

We are a Modern Orthodox Jewish Day School, with 150 students from
K-Grade 8.

I would be grateful if one or two librarians from similar sized schools
could contact me with the following information:

How many staff does the library have? (Full time, part time,
assistants?).

How many books do you have? (Fiction, Non Fiction, Reference,
Encyclopedias, Jewish interest, Hebrew etc)

What other resources does your library have? (databases etc).

What about computers/internet use for students?

I look forward to hearing from you.

Yours sincerely,

Susan Morrison
