This year we will begin a new tradition at AJL conventions: a silent auction!
Your generous donations to the AJL silent auction can help make the
Montreal convention even more entertaining, exciting, and rewarding,
and can help raise funds for two good causes. Proceeds from the
auction will be divided between the Auberge Shalom pour femmes (the
Jewish women's shelter in Montreal; http://www.aubergeshalom.org/)
and the AJL convention stipend fund.
Suggested donations include:
books
CDs and DVDs
software
Judaica
gift cards
subscriptions
arts and crafts (I know there are talented creative types among
our members)
baskets of regional and local specialties (chapters may want to
organize this...)
library paraphernalia (T-shirts, mugs, posters, etc.)
other good stuff
Auction donors will receive special mention in the program book.
Exhibitors who contribute to the silent auction will receive a
special decoration for their exhibit tables.
Please let me know what item(s) you will be donating to the auction
and provide an estimated retail value, so I can create bid sheets in
advance of the convention.
We know that shipping items from the US to Canada can be expensive,
so we are pleased to offer our exclusive silent auction shlepper
service (SASS). If you are not attending the convention but would
like to donate something to the silent auction, please contact me
(808-956-2648; s...@hawaii.edu) to arrange to send your donation to a
shlepper near you. If you are planning to attend the convention and
are willing to be a shlepper, please let me know that too.
