Dear Safranim,

We have been requested to purchase another copy of an old video 
called "The Wave".  We already own a copy and have tried to contact 
the producer using the phone number on the original video, but they 
no longer exist.  If anyone knows where to purchase this video please advise.

In addition another old video, same problem...   " The Kastner Trial" 
(Mishpat Kastner).  This is an Israeli film in PAL format.

Dear Safranim,

I would like to thank all of you who responded so promptly to my 
query regarding "The Wave" and "The Kastner Trial".  We were able to 
find both for a reasonable amount.

Now, I would like to try my luck again.  We are now looking for 
another video called "Shtei Etsba'ot MiTsidon"  (or in English- 
Ricochets).  Does anyone have an idea where it can be purchased?

[ha-Safran]: Videos needed

I am looking for any videos about or clips of interviews with Martin 
Buber, A. J. Heschel or Mordecai Kaplan.  We are looking for 
alternatives for visual learners. Does anyone know if videos of this 
type are available?  If so, please let me know how I can get them.

[ha-Safran]: Videos about Israel

I've been meaning to post about a set of DVD's I purchased last year, 
called "Israel Up Close."
So far there are 20 videos in the set; more are released 
gradually.  Each video is about 15 minutes long and each consists of 
three short (less than 5 minutes) features about aspect of Israeli 
life, nearly all are completely unrelated to conflict.  They are 
news-type features and are seen on TV in Europe; they focus on things 
like sports, arts, archaeological finds, medical 
breakthroughs,  immigrant groups, and Arab-Jewish cooperation.
They sell for only $2.50 each, and you order them from the 
website israelupclose.org
I found that the segments  vary a lot in interest - some of my 
favorites covered: baseball coming to Israel, Sudanese refugees 
seeking asylum in Israel, Arab and Jewish children together learning 
martial arts in Jerusalem, Israeli doctors performing life-saving 
heart surgery on children from third world countries, and the 
now-famous 2,000 year-old date tree.
   You can learn more from the website.  I have no connection with 
Israel Up Close.  I am just happy to find this information available 
that shows the vibrancy of Israeli culture,  as well as its 
contributions to humanity.

[ha-Safran]: Videos for a Jewish Family Life course

course we offer to high school seniors on Jewish Family Life (dating, 
marriage, Shabbos, careers, gender differences, life's challenges, 
etc.).  I would rather have videos with a Jewish slant, but would

[ha-Safran]: Videos on Jewish rituals on death and dying

I have a library patron who will be teaching a class to Hospice  volunteers 
and she would like to have an idea or a list of what videos or audios are 
available to use to help her train these volunteers  on Jewish rituals  on

I created a page with the three YouTube videos
of Israeli doctors and IDF search and rescue in Haiti.

1. Footage from the IDF Field Hospital that has been set up in
Port-au-Prince, Haiti, after the earthquake. This video includes
footage of the first baby born at the field hospital on
January 17, 2009.

2. IDF Search and Rescue teams in Port-au-Prince Haiti pulled
a 52 year-old Hatian man from the rubble of a collapsed building.
The team worked for 8 hours to extract the man, who was in good
condition despite wounds on his limbs and dehydration.
He had been trapped in the rubble for 90 hours, and had managed
to communicate his location to rescue forces via sms.

3. Fox news last night interviewed the IDF doctors in the
Israeli Field Hospital in Haiti.
