[ha-Safran] Happy Calendars from neighborhood Mortuaries 5774
Hey all. Frying eggs on car hoods yet? What with High Holidays zooming in on us like a hive of heat-crazed honey bees this year, I am hailing one and all for happy free-bee calendars from Mortuaries and local Supermarkets especially the ones with a center fold-out of coupons for 12cents off 9-ounce jars of purple chrein; everybody around this watering hole gets a kick out of coupons because neither the concept of coupons nor the concept of chrein (nor the concept of guefilte fisch for that matter), exists. The coupons promote endless hours of pointless, albeit amusing discussion on cultural differences. As a warm thank you, as some of you have already found out, I even throw in a pair of hand-made mittens made from left over 100% pure wool balls of yarn in my yarn bag (pointless in Florida, granted, but they come in handy in Maine). No two mittens alike. Mostly fingerless in an attempt to finish them before I run out of a particular kind of yarn. Shalom, The Gershom Scholem Collection of the National Library of Israel proudly announces the scanning and uploading of Prof. Gershom Scholem's card catalogue of Zoharic Aramaic.
