ציבורית אי-שם. במכתבי השתמשתי בראשי תיבות מצויים: ספהל {=ספריה הלאומית}
וחתמתי שבש {=שבת שלום}...

[ha-Safran] Brenda in Hong Kong is retiring
Shalom dear librarian friends, Today is my last of job in the Judaica Library of the JCC in Hong Kong. Im taking an early retirement after having worked in this position for more than 17 ½ years. Dont worry, my health is ok. I had a partial knee replacement surgery early this year, and I can walk much better now. This is the place I learnt about Judaism, Jewish history and culture and knew my Jewish friends. This is a unique place to work in and whenever I tell people about my job, I get the look of admiration, envy and unbelief. A lot of people in this part of the world do not know much about Jews and Judaism. Even some do, they are amazed to learn that there is a Judaic Library. It has been a pleasure to have known you and you are the best and most reliable people to rely on when I have a question. Numerous of times you have given me valuable help and advice. I treasure all these. And I enjoyed the one and only one convention that I attended in New York in 2004. I still remember some of the people I met there. Life goes on after my retirement. I will stay in Hong Kong. I dont have plans, big or small (Ill visit Israel in Feb 2015 though). Ill enjoy whatever comes into my life. I definitely will live a more relaxed life.
