Subject: [ha-Safran] Israeli publishing companies

Hi all ? does anyone know of publishing companies in Israel that are
currently acquiring foreign rights to books published in the US? Not
necessarily Jewish-themed but anything that might be in demand for the
Israeli reading marketplace. I published a memoir about a young woman whose
father died of ALS and a number of Hebrew speaking readers have asked if
her book will be translated to Hebrew any time soon. Thanks for any and all
advice. Allison

[ha-Safran] Synagogue lounges

2015-07-06 Thread Ann Abrams
Dear Synagogue Librarians,

Do any of your synagogues have lounges (that are NOT in the library), that
are in centrally located spaces in your synagogues?

Any info on this topic would be very helpful, including if there are pics
on your website.

Thanks!

[ha-Safran] Solomon Schechter School of Manhattan seeking primary-level teachers

2015-07-06 Thread Marga Hirsch

From: Gary Pretsfelder

Subject: Can you Help? I'm Looking for a First Grade Co-Teacher and also a
P/T Hebrew Teacher
To: Gary Pretsfelder

Dear Colleagues and Friends:

I am writing in early summer to ask for help in finding a first grade
co-teacher and a p/t Hebrew language teacher for the 2015-16 school year.

In our school, a co-teacher works collaboratively with a partner in the
same classroom throughout the day. The co-teacher must have relative
fluency in Hebrew. A Hebrew language teacher is a specialist who teaches
across different grades, sometimes in collaboration and sometimes on
his/her own.

For both positions, I am interested in someone with some classroom
experience.

For those of you not familiar with Schechter Manhattan’s teaching model I
offer details here:

Classroom teachers, K-5, work in co-teaching teams throughout the day and,
together, are responsible for teaching BOTH Jewish and General Studies, and
establishing and maintaining the culture of the classroom. As Hebrew is a
core part of our school culture, both teachers need to be relatively fluent
in Hebrew.

Schechter Manhattan is a K-8 student-centered day school with a
constructivist educational approach, a commitment to differentiation, an
emphasis on *menschlichkeit* and personal development, and a strong culture
of faculty reflection, collaboration, creativity and professional growth.

If you know a friend or relative looking for a teaching job, or, if you are
a colleague and have resumes to share, I would appreciate you letting let
me know. Also, *it would be helpful to me if you could share this with
others through your own social media networks.*

Feel free to email me if you have any questions.

Many thanks.

Gary
