[ha-Safran] looking for piano theory books for chabad children
I am helping an 11-year old Chabad boy learn piano. It's easy finding Jewish songs but it's hard finding music theory books for beginning piano students with Jewish tunes. If any of you have taught theory to observant piano students, would you please suggest some theory books or workbooks? Or is it okay to use Hal Leonard or other mainstream piano books for beginners? [ha-Safran] AJL conf: Judaica auction house tour
David Wachtel, Senior Consultant for Rare Books at Kestenbaum & Company will be conducting a behind-the-scenes tour of the inner workings of a modern auction house, exclusively for members of the AJL, on Tuesday evening, June 20th, from 7:00-7:45 pm. The tour will include a sneak preview of some of the books, manuscripts, and graphic arts material being offered at Kestenbaum’s forthcoming Judaica sale, later that week. [ha-Safran] Need Helpers in the Conference Exhibit Hall
Shalom AJL Conference Attendees, I need some people to help out in the exhibit hall during the conference. You don't have to live in the Greater NYC area, just email me and let me know if you can help with the setup on Monday morning between 9 am and 11 am or on Wednesday to pack up the unsold books (which hopefully will be few) between 11:15 and 12 am. Who knows? You may walk away with some goodies as a reward for your good deed. I would also appreciate volunteers to occasionally check in with the exhibitors to see if they need someone to cover their table while they attend a session. Some of our exhibitors are also presenters.
