Congratulations to Heidi!

This is only the latest of her many wonderful and utterly deserved awards.
Since she arrived as a member of the Boca Committee in 1999, she has been a
wonder, a diligent and creative presence, and a mentor for AJL members of
all ages and all persuasions.

2020-03-08 Thread Amalia Warshenbrot via Hasafran
Mazal tov to Heidi ! I can’t think of a more deserving mover and shaker of
KIdilit.
I add my gratitude to the Kar-Ben publishing. . It is so appropriate that the
publishers of books that are on the shelves of so many synagogue, school or
center libraries will support librarians who work with and advocate for the
readers of those very books. Below please see the ctitera:

• Active involvement in the Judaic library profession or related fields
promoting Jewish children’s literacy
• Strong advocacy for library/literacy services to children and youth
• Positive role model to colleagues and the wider community
• Innovative approaches to Jewish children’s literature or library services

Heidi’s activities meet all the conditions listed above.

Subject: [ha-Safran] Groner-Wikler Award, 2020

Dear AJLers,

It is my honor and pleasure to inform the AJL Community that Heidi Rabinowitz,
host at Book of Life Podcast and librarian at Congregation B'nai Israel in Boca
Raton, FL, is the winner of the 2020 Groner-Wikler Scholarship. This
scholarship, generously underwritten by KarBen Publishing, is presented to an
AJL member who demonstrates dedication to Jewish children's literature and
library services.

Heidi's passion for Jewish kidlit and spreading the word far and wide using
many different venues and formats impressed the Scholarship Committee. Please
join me in congratulating Heidi on her winning this scholarship.

We thank Joni Sussman and KarBen Publishing for their generosity in enabling
our community to have extraordinary librarians like Heidi join us at our
conferences.

We are looking forward to seeing her – and all of you - at the AJL Conference
in Evanston, IL in June.

[ha-Safran] Question about Michael Grant Front Lines Trilogy

2020-03-08 Thread TBE Library via Hasafran
I've just purchased the Michael Grant triology Front Lines, Silver Stars, and
Purple Hearts at the request of a high school patron who really loved the first
novel. I haven't read them yet.
Has anyone hear read them and willing to comment for me?

Thanks,

Clare Kinberg TBE Library, Ann Arbor

[ha-Safran] Groner-Wikler Award, 2020

2020-03-08 Thread Emily Bergman via Hasafran
Dear AJLers,

It is my honor and pleasure to inform the AJL Community that Heidi
Rabinowitz, host at Book of Life Podcast and librarian at Congregation
B'nai Israel in Boca Raton, FL, is the winner of the 2020
Groner-Wikler Scholarship.
This scholarship, generously underwritten by KarBen Publishing, is
presented to an AJL member who demonstrates dedication to Jewish children's
literature and library services.

Heidi's passion for Jewish kidlit and spreading the word far and wide using
many different venues and formats impressed the Scholarship Committee.
Please join me in congratulating Heidi on her winning this scholarship.

We thank Joni Sussman and KarBen Publishing for their generosity in
enabling our community to have extraordinary librarians like Heidi join us
at our conferences.

We are looking forward to seeing her – and all of you - at the AJL
Conference in Evanston, IL in June.
