[ha-Safran] AJL Librarian Positions: Remote Cataloger

2020-07-12 Thread joanna katsune via Hasafran
I would like to request a query if there are any library positions
available for remote work as a cataloger (monographs, digital resources,
manuscripts, and archives). I'm a Special Collections / Rare Materials
Cataloger at Brown University, Providence Rhode Island, and the librarian
at Braude Library, Temple Beth El, Providence, R.I.

Can this be posted? I had requested this post prior to the conference but
never saw appear in any AJL e-mails. If not does the AJL have a "positions
available" link on the AJL web site?

Thank you

Joanna Katsune

[ha-Safran] Call for contributions for AJL News!

2020-07-12 Thread Sally Stieglitz via Hasafran
Dear Safranim,

I hope you are all well. I was so happy to see and meet many of you at the
extraordinary AJL virtual conference. Congratulations and thanks to all
the coordinators of that event...what a success!!!
I'm writing to ask for contributions to the News section of AJL News and
Reviews. Please contact me if you could contribute any of the following:

*Chapter Chatter:* - Always welcome; I understand that Chapters may not be
active during COVID 19 shutdowns, so if you don't have news currently,
please consider for future issues.

*COVID 19 stories - *Speaking of which, I'm collecting brief contributions
on what is happening in your library/school/archive, day school, etc with
respect to shutdowns. We have 3 contributions so far; please consider
jotting down a few sentences about your own work for inclusion in the next
issue.

*Articles*: Want to write for the Newsletter of the Leading Authority on
Judaic Librarianship? Here is your chance! Pitch an article on a topic -
could be a special project in your library/archive, etc or something else.

Thanks for your contributions.

Best regards,
Sally

[ha-Safran] AJL Conference was a big success!

2020-07-12 Thread Ellen Share via Hasafran
Thank you to everyone who worked on the conference for making it informative,
creative, and running technically smoothly. Lisa, Marcie, Rachel, Jackie and
additional members worked so hard and turned out a great conference. We will
need to think about more virtual conferences especially because of reduced cost
to AJL and increased attendance! Ellen Share, Potomac, MD
