I forgot to say, you must get the books out of the collection right away
and isolate them, while you decide what to do, or you're going to get more
moldy books. Emily

Re: [ha-Safran] Mold issue in library

2021-11-19 Thread Emily Bergman via Hasafran
I have worked with library disasters for decades here in Southern
California. Most of the time, the best thing to do with moldy books is to
discard and replace them. Mold grows very quickly and moves from one book
to the ones around it. If you have books you cannot replace, you can get
rid of the mold, but it's expensive and probably not worth the expense with
a general collection. As Jackie suggested, you can contact a professional
company who deals with mold, like Belfor, but it doesn't come cheap. For
great information on mold, and any other library disaster, the best place
for information is the NEDCC
 (Northeast Document
Conservation Center). They have an extensive online library
 of
information about dealing with water, mold, pests, etc. Emily

I fully agree with Jackie. Don't touch the materials before you talk to an
expert, and make sure you are masked and have gloves when handling them.
This said, the books can be saved, although it might be a costly
enterprise.

Hello!
Any tips on where I can find these two films available for purchase on DVD?
Or if you know of an option to stream them that would be great to know too!
Thanks in advance,
