Association of Jewish Libraries
Digital Conference 2023: Call for Proposals

The Association of Jewish Libraries is now soliciting proposals for its
upcoming Digital Conference 2023: A World of Possibilities, Monday, June
19–Thursday, June 22, 2023.

Librarians, scholars, educators, archivists, authors, and library advocates are
invited to submit proposals for papers and presentations on all aspects of
librarianship and on topics related to Jews, Judaism, the Jewish experience, or
Israel. Presentations should be relevant to library professionals working in
academic and research institutions, archives, synagogues, day schools, or
Jewish community centers as well as public schools or libraries serving Jewish
communities. Past topics have included collection development and management,
programming, reader advisory services, special and rare collections, archival
science, cataloging and classification, Jewish literature and literacy, digital
and electronic resources, and emerging technologies. All presentations will be
delivered over Zoom.

This year's conference theme is A World of Possibilities. We especially
encourage submissions that highlight new ideas, programs, and systems you have
learned about, used, and/or developed over these tumultuous three years. Topics
could include but are not limited to long-term changes in library design, new
Judaica programming or collection areas in Jewish studies, and international
collaborations possible in the virtual era. Since our digital conference is not
bound by geography, we welcome submissions from our colleagues around the world.

Co-presenters and panel presentations are welcome; however, each presenter must
submit a separate proposal. All submissions must be received by January 31,
2023. Proposals will be reviewed by the programming committee and all
applicants will be notified in March 2023. Questions? Contact
confere...@jewishlibraries.org.

The Haftarah and Its Parsha
by Richard
W. Golden

This groundbreaking work attempts to identify the relationship between each
haftarah and its parsha — and explores how this connection remains
pertinent today.
*A Taste of Maharal
*
by Rabbi Doniel Baron

A Taste of Maharal provides a cross section of ideas and adaptations
selected from the Maharal’s extensive writings and is annotated to include
the full text of the Maharal’s own words in the original Hebrew.

*Mishlei: Metaphors for Living*

by Rabbi Dovid Morris

Mishlei: Metaphors for Living explores the first five chapters of Shlomo
HaMelech’s work through the lens of Midrashim, Gemaras, and classical
commentaries, allowing today’s reader to access the extraordinary — and
eminently relevant — wisdom within.
*The Dos and Dont’s of Staying Happily Married
*
by Rabbi Chaim Morgenstern

In this essential book, readers will benefit from the clear guidelines of
Torah teachings, including Chazal and contemporary rabbanim, as well as
from the author’s extensive counseling experience. Together, these provide
life-changing tools for staying happily married — forever.

*Gematria Refigured
*
by Rabbi Elie Feder

Gematria Refigured develops a theory which elucidates how the Torah and
Chazal use gematria to direct us toward a very specific type of idea.
Through its many examples, this work illustrates how gematria can help us
uncover novel insights, while providing interesting and clearly formulated
perspectives into many mitzvos, themes, and stories in Tanach.

*Paths of the Maharal
*
by Dr. Moshe David Kuhr & Idan Kuhr

Dr. Kuhr has translated and elucidated this work with grace, finesse, and
reverence. All those who value true Torah scholarship will find Paths of

worldview.

–Rabbi Berel Wein
