[ha-Safran] Bookplates for a synagogue library

2018-03-23 Thread Joy Kingsolver
Dear colleagues,

We need to order bookplates to put in new books for our synagogue library.
Does anyone have a supplier to recommend?
I see that Vernon library supplies and The Library Store offer them, but
none of the designs have specifically Jewish elements.

Thanks,
Joy Kingsolver

Re: [ha-Safran] Bookplates

2016-07-28 Thread Aileen Grossberg
Toby et al,

I only use bookplates when someone has either physically given a book ,requests
a plate, or we have conducted a targeted fund raising opportunity (.e.g.when we
purchased a full set of Talmud)

For general monetary donations to the library, we list them in our bulletin and
I keep a record. I've not had any objections.

Unfortunately, I've never been able to get a children's birthday club or the
like off the ground. If the library had such a thing, we would use plates in
the books.

Sometimes when I need to put bookplates in items, I put them in basinal new
books that are already in circulation. No one seems to mind.

Hope this helps.

Subject: [ha-Safran] Bookplates

Dear Synagogue Librarians:

I would like to hear thoughts on the value and continued usage of bookplates.
We have two library donor funds here: one adult and one children. My
children’s book purchases generally keep up with the number of donations and I
add bookplates honoring the donors in whatever way they have requested. The
kids love seeing the names and we even have a bookplate contest here every
year. However, I am about one year behind in adult books and this is because I
don’t buy nearly as many adult books anymore.

I am wondering if others are using bookplates for adult materials and if their
bookbuying matches their number of donors. I normally don’t include used
donated books to the bookplate unless they ask for a bookplate specifically.
Might the childrens’ library donors someday surpass the purchases as well? How
do we continue to honor memories, simchas and mitzvahs if our libraries are
transforming and our print collections getting smaller? I often encourage
people to purchase books from the wish list to give rather than money but this
rarely happens – not that I’m swamped with monetary donations either. I’m
tempted to just stop adding adult bookplates and not worry about it. ;)

Anybody else troubled with bookplate dilemmas? Thanks!

[ha-Safran] bookplates

2014-09-10 Thread Debby Lazaroff
Hi,

Does anyone know of a good place to order bookplates, to put in books to
acknowledge donations in honor of or in memory of. We would like to order
bookplates with our synagogue logo on them.

Thanks!
