Re: [ha-Safran] Free professional development program on librarianship at NASA/JPL

My husband was an astrochemist at JPL for over 35 years. He founded and
chaired the Library Committee to move the library forward to be more
responsive to the needs of the lab, to connect better to the
CalTech library, and to incorporate the latest technology...I'm sure I
influenced his interest. Caroline, as are all the JPL librarians, is
fabulous. She also plays the cello. When my husband died, the JPL library
took 5 boxes of his books. Emily

[ha-Safran] Free professional development program on librarianship at NASA/JPL

2021-05-07 Thread Sally Stieglitz via Hasafran
Dear Safranim,

This program is free, open to all in the library field, and presented on
zoom.

Best regards
Sally (Your friendly NASA Solar System Ambassador
)

Librarians In Space! OR Just How Far Can a Library Degree Take You?

Learn about librarianship at the NASA/Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL),
where the motto is "Dare Mighty Things."

Presenter *Caroline Coward* supervises the daily operations of the Library
at NASA/Jet Propulsion Laboratory, collaborating with and supporting the
work of scientists, engineers, and mission specialists across the
organization in areas such as information curation, knowledge management,
and data repository governance. Caroline holds a Master of Library and
Information Science degree from San Jose State University as well as a
Bachelor of Music from California State University, Long Beach. In addition
to significant experience in public and special libraries, she spent the
majority of her 30-year career as a tenured library faculty member in
higher education, coordinating High Impact Practices and Information
Literacy initiatives. At JPL, Caroline leads efforts in organizing the
Lab's vast information stores, from physical processing and access, to
metadata, taxonomy, ontology, and other data science partnerships, to
developing new information initiatives Labwide.

This program is being presented in cooperation with NASA's Solar System
Ambassador program. For more information on the program, visit
