In this 90-minute session, Oral Historian Jenni Matz (Director, Television
Academy Foundation Interviews) will cover a basic overview of starting an
oral history project. The presentation will touch on project design,
creating a budget, examples of good and not-so-good interviewing
techniques, ethical and legal considerations for capturing oral histories,
production concerns to consider, access to oral history collections, and
preservation. Sample resources such as production checklists and release
forms will be provided. The session will include a brief Q&A.

This workshop is geared toward those who work in libraries, archives, and
museums and are considering building an oral history program or hoping to
expand an existing project.

A Zoom link will be sent to registrants prior to event.

About the presenter:

Jenni Matz is an oral historian, MLIS- archivist, documentary filmmaker,
and attorney. Jenni has been an oral historian for the Television Academy
Interviews since 2006 and its Director since 2014. She oversees the
long-term planning and preservation of the Academy’s digital video archive
and conducts many of its interviews. Matz co-designed the award-winning
website, Television Academy Interviews
