[ha-Safran] Sydney Taylor Manuscript Award Committee

While, the Manuscript Committee is full for the next year, there will be 
openings on the committee beginning in June 2018. 


If you are  attending the New York City conference and are interested in 
finding out about this exciting committee that discovers new writers, please 
contact committee chair Aileen Grossberg  (aido...@aol.com) and we will set a 
time for a brief get-together perhaps late Monday morning.

[ha-Safran] Sydney Taylor Manuscript Award Committee Openings

Hello All!
It has been so wonderful to see so many of you at the conference this
week.  I am emailing to let you all know that The Sydney Taylor Manuscript
Award Committee has three openings

for committee members beginning September 2024. Terms are limited to three
years.

The committee’s duties consist of reading unpublished manuscripts,
completing an evaluative rubric, and writing evaluations of those
manuscripts. The committee, guided by the chairperson, then communicates
via email and Zoom to choose a successful candidate and winner of the
Sydney Taylor Manuscript Award.

Individuals interested in serving on the Committee should have some
background in book reviewing or similar experience and a familiarity with
the goals and constructs of children's literature. They must be able to
meet deadlines and commit to writing thoughtful, detailed evaluations.

Manuscripts for consideration are accepted until September 13th; a decision
is reached by mid-January.

[ha-Safran] Sydney Taylor Manuscript Award Committee Opening

The Sydney Taylor Manuscript Award Committee will soon be starting to evaluate 
manuscripts for the 2018 award. 

We have an opening on the committee. Members read, evaluate, and choose a 
manuscript that fits the award’s criteria. For specific information on the 
Sydney Taylor Manuscript Award and criteria, please go to the AJL website. 

Committee members must be able to meet deadlines, have experience in evaluating 
books and be familiar with children’s literature although they need not be 
working in the field of children’s literature.

 If you are interested in choosing the next great  Jewish themed children’s 
book,  please send a resume and 2 writing samples to aido...@aol.com 

The committee is especially interested in members from the South and Midwest.

The bulk of the committee work is done between October and mid-January.__
