Safaranim:

I just became aware of this website. They have many free e-books on
Israeli security, political history, diplomacy, and Israeli public
figures. The publications are free and available in both Hebrew and
English. None of the e-books seem to be in WorldCat. I cataloged the
website and you are free to copy my cataloging.

[ha-Safran] Website for the Study of the Hebrew Bible

2015-07-03 Thread avital ordan
Cross-posting for Prof. Brettler

Avital Ordan

Jerusalem

Website for the Study of the Hebrew Bible

I am pleased to let you know that, with the help of many colleagues,
friends, and students, I have completely revamped my website that deals
with basic tools for the study of the (Hebrew) Bible in Hebrew. Its main
intended audience is beginning and intermediate students who want to engage
biblical texts in a scholarly fashion in Hebrew. It has sections on
scholarly bibles, lexica, grammars, and electronic resources. It includes
some exercises in using these tools. It also has a brief discussion of the
tetragrammaton and its pronunciation. It includes a list of basic tools for
general biblical scholarship that students writing papers (at any level)
may find helpful. Finally, with lots of help, I have compiled a
Hebrew-English and English-Hebrew glossary of terms used in biblical
scholarship so that English speakers can more easily read modern Hebrew
articles, and vice versa.

The url is: https://sites.google.com/…/toolsforstudyingthehebrewbi…/home

I hope to update this site often, so feel free to send me corrections and
suggestions. SBL has also agreed to host it on its website, so in the
coming days you should see it there as well.

[ha-Safran] Website: Jewish Book Cultures in the Early Modern World

2021-01-22 Thread Michelle Chesner via Hasafran
Dear colleagues,

I hope this email finds you well. I am co-teaching a course this semester
on the history of the Jewish book. Of course, this course should ideally
take place in a rare book room, with physical examples of the materials
laid out before the students. Alas, present circumstances do not allow
this, so I put together a website with examples of the concepts/books being
discussed. It's openly available, and relies (where possible) on IIIF
technology to allow page-turning within the site (so there may be a slight
lag as the page loads). Obviously, the site was created for a specific
classroom context (as reflected in the page divisions), but it is my hope
that it will prove useful to others in teaching and learning beyond this
one class and semester.

Re: [ha-Safran] Website: Jewish Book Cultures in the Early Modern World

2021-01-23 Thread Annette Goldsmith via Hasafran
Wow! Michelle, this is fabulous! Thank you so much for sharing it with us.

print-to-digital artifacts. Several are already interested in rare books so
this will be a real treat for them.

Thanks again!
Annette
