Thanks [~hanishakoneru] for working on this and Xiaoyu / Rushabh for reviews.

What is the goal of the improved testing? It seems we're trying make sure if
there are 2 HDFS clusters with the same KMS, they will each work correctly.
Although in theory KMS isn't impacted by HDFS, I agree having a test to cover
it is nice.

I think a more interesting test is with viewfs: have a federated cluster, and
make sure all [CryptoAdmin
CLIs|http://hadoop.apache.org/docs/r3.0.0/hadoop-project-dist/hadoop-hdfs/TransparentEncryption.html#crypto_command-line_interface]
 work as expected. For example, does -listZones return a union of the 2
clusters? (We may end up with less line of codes if this is covered as a new
TestCryptoAdminCLIWithFederation class and the test case in xml, but don't feel
strongly)

Hi [~shahrs87], thanks for the review.

If we make {{TestEncryptionZonesWithKMSandFederation}} extend
{{TestEncryptionZonesWithKMS}} then the former would run all the test cases in
the later with its initial {{setup}}. This would fail all the tests in
{{TestEncryptionZonesWithKMS}} run against the setup of
{{TestEncryptionZonesWithKMSandFederation}}. To get over this, we would have to
modify all the test cases in {{TestEncryptionZonesWithKMS}} and
{{TestEncryptionZones}} to work with the federated configuration setup. For
example, instead of using variable {{dfsAdmin}} in
{{TestEncryptionZonesWithKMS}}, we would have to change it to \{{dsfAdmin[0]}}
to match the federated setup.

I think it would just complicate all the three Tests by doing this. We could
instead have a \{{TestEncryptionZonesBaseTest}} class and make all the other
Tests extend this class. Or we could just keep the non-federated Tests and
federated Tests separate (as is in patch v03). Please let me know your thoughts.

Thanks [~hanishakoneru] for working on this.
Can't {{TestEncryptionZonesWithKMSandFederation}} just extend
{{TestEncryptionZonesWithKMS}} and override {{createCluster}}.
 {{TestEncryptionZones}} will have createCluster method with one namenode and
{{TestEncryptionZonesWithKMSandFederation}} will override and create
{{simpleFederatedTopology}}.
Does it make sense ?
That way we will have hierarchy.  {{TestEncryptionZonesWithKMSandFederation}}
--> {{TestEncryptionZonesWithKMS}} --> {{TestEncryptionZones}}

Thanks for the review [~xyao]. Addressed all the comments in patch v02.

I did not fix all the checkstyle warnings as the link has expired. I will fix
it after the next jenkins run.

> It would be good to have some unit tests for testing KMS and EZ on a

> EZs on two namespaces with different keys using one KMS.

[jira] [Commented] (HDFS-13148) Unit test for EZ with KMS and Federation

Thanks [~hanishakoneru] for improving test coverage on this. It looks good to
me overall, just few minor issues:

1. Line 128, 153-158: this is not needed. DFS has logic to ask the NN for its
default KMS uri.

2. NIT: createZones can be renamed to reflect the fact that it creates dirs on
two namespaces.

3. You can use FileContext class to simplify the test prep which is easier than
the FileSystemTestWrapper. Ex, for zone1, you can use the follow without
getFQP() helper function.

{code}
URI uri = cluster.getURI(1);
fc = FileContext.getFileContext(uri, conf);
fc.mkdir(fc.makeQualified(new Path(zones[1])), FileContext.DEFAULT_PERM,
true);
{code}

4. Can you clear the checkstyle warnings?
