> * *hadoop fs* is the generic implementation for all filesystem
> implementations, but some of the operations are supported only in some
> filesystems. Ex: snapshot commands, acl commands, xattr commands.
> * *hdfs dfs* is recommended in all hdfs related docs in current releases.
> In current code both *hdfs shell* and *hadoop fs* points to hadoop common
> implementation of FSShell.
> It would be better to have HDFS specific extention of FSShell which includes
> HDFS only commands in future.

Vinayakumar B updated HDFS-7368:

Attachment: HDFS-7368-001.patch

draft patch.. not intended for commit.
{{DFSShell}} extends the {{FsShell}}, by allowing all common commands.

Question: Whether moving AclCommands, SnapshotCommands and XAttrCommands to
'hdfs dfs' from 'hadoop fs' will be a compatibility issue? as these commands
are only works for HDFS and recommended to execute using *hdfs dfs*.
