Hi Guixers,

I would ask fare, I've cc'ed fare, who's using Pinephone Pro with Guix System.

https://github.com/fare/guixcfg/blob/313e6d5e619b7ed551154eda29957b60d0221b7e/deepness.scm#L1

I started packaging sxmo stuff for Guix a while back.

We have a few things here:

https://packages.guix.gnu.org/packages/sxmo-st/0.8.4.1

There's some sxmo stuff in guixrus. I'll upstream them this week:

https://git.sr.ht/~whereiseveryone/guixrus/tree/master/item/guixrus/packages/suckless.scm#L214
https://git.sr.ht/~whereiseveryone/guixrus/tree/master/item/guixrus/packages/suckless.scm#L233
https://git.sr.ht/~whereiseveryone/guixrus/tree/master/item/guixrus/packages/suckless.scm#L255

all best,

Hi Guixers,

Any idea why I might be getting this error message when starting geiser with
guile on a guix module?

Here's my "perfect setup":

If people buy the keyboard addon it's also possible to use additional
environments like sxmo that was mentioned before (an environment that
works 100% with a keyboard).

Users probably just need to be aware of it[1].

That would be an issue indeed. Though if packages are added, it might
be possible to easily support the Pinephone (the not-pro version) or
other smartphones with upstream kernels.

With a little amount of work, it might be possible to use Pine64 devices
supported by upstream Linux and u-boot. And as I understand, there is
not a lot of packaging to do for the Pinephone, so it might also
benefit other phones, or at least show how to do it in a way that works.

Though having everything packaged will not magically adapt
all the applications to a very small screen with a very high resolution
for instance, or magically port free software Android applications to
GNU/Linux. Some Android applications will also not work with Waydroid
if they require hardware features that Waydroid doesn't support yet
(like telephony for the "silence" application).

Another issue might be that not everything cross compile fine in Guix,
and cross compiling from x86_64 is needed so to have downloadable images
like for the Pinebook PRO[2].

Though things could be done in two stages where once the image is
installed, the users would then just use guix system reconfigure to
install additional packages.

Now Japanese (Anthy) is gone again, both from the switcher and the list of
input methods in ibus-settings and GNOME Keyboard settings...

I don't know..., removing ~/.cache/ibus didn't seem to have any effect here
anymore. It used to. I tried in two different machines.

At least it's not just me :)

Unfortunatelly, yes. Although I tried on another Guix System that didn't have
ibus set up yet. I did the ibus dance, could add input methods like Spanish,
English, and switch between them normally with Super+Space, but Japanese
(Anthy) was not listed as an available input method, even though it is
installed.

But then I changed to my machine, went to GNOME Keyboard settings to see if I
could try adding and using any of the other Japanese input methods and, lo and
behold, Japanese (Anthy) was listed magically. But adding it and switching to
it doesn't let me type Japanese, even with Hiragana input mode selected.

I'll restart my desktop session and hope for more magic events :)

attempt to create a profile

2022-12-28 Thread Gottfried

Hi,

Which commands can I use to enter and close my new profile?

So if I use my normal profile, and want to switch briefly to my new made
profile and come back to my normal profile?

...and also at start up that I can choose which profile to open?
(or will this be automatically set up through creating a new profile?)

I wanted to create a profile:

guix package --profile=/home/gfp/projects/musescore-3.6.2.guix-profile

and beforehand I created the directory "projects" and
"Musescore-3.6.2" in the directory "projects"
in my /home/gfp/ directory
(I did that because it said: "
file or directory was not found"

but it didn't work.
"warning: nothing to do" was the answer.

Where was my mistake?

Kind regards

Gottfried
