GNOME Desktop

2019-05-05 Thread Dexter Morgan
   Hi,

How can I use GNOME Core Applications
   (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GNOME_Core_Applications) that are
missing in Guix System? I am quite frusturated and disappointed with
the GNOME Desktop in Guix. I can't even use a music player or a
calendar. I thought I do not have deal with additional applications if
I use a Desktop Environment, but it seems GNOME Desktop in Guix is
incomplete. :(. Are there any tricks to enable and use these missing
   applications please?

   Thanks.

Looks like it's not packaged yet.

Missing Secure and Private Communication Applications in Guix (REVISED)

2019-05-01 Thread Dexter Morgan
   REVISED POST

   Hello!

I was just browsing FSF's High Priority Projects
   ([1]https://directory.fsf.org/wiki/Collection:High_Priority_Projects) a
   nd PRISM ([2]https://directory.fsf.org/wiki/Collection:PRISM).

I found out that some applications listed there for secure and private
communications were not imported into Guix yet. The applications are:

   [1] CyrptoCat ([3]https://directory.fsf.org/wiki/Cryptocat)

   [2] Ekiga ([4]https://directory.fsf.org/wiki/Ekiga) *

   [3] Empathy ([5]https://directory.fsf.org/wiki/Empathy) *

   [4] Jitsi ([6]https://directory.fsf.org/wiki/Jitsi) **

   [5] Linphone ([7]https://directory.fsf.org/wiki/Linphone)

   [6] Ricochet ([8]https://directory.fsf.org/wiki/Ricochet)

   [7] Wire ([9]https://directory.fsf.org/wiki/Wire) **

   * Part of GNOME, but not in Guix yet.

** Very useful for non-techsavvy users.

   Thank you!

HAPPY TO SEE THE COUNT REDUCED :)

Alternative VPN Clients

2019-04-24 Thread Dexter Morgan
   Hi All,

My friend introduced me to GNU/Linux and installed GuixSD on my laptop.
I am just getting started on Bash. I find that there is absence of VPN
clients as an alternative to OpenVPN. Can some one please package the
   following alternative VPN clients:

   1) Bitmask: [1]https://bitmask.net/en

   2) Netsplice: [2]https://www.ipredator.se/netsplice

They will also be very useful to other users. :)

   Thank you.
