I've had this problem with a couple apps I've moved to Heroku. I ended up using Adam's yaml_db plugin to dump the database to yml and then reloading and pushing. Yes, I got the exact same error earlier today. I contacted support about it 6 hours ago and haven't heard anything. It seems to be fixed now, though, at least for me. Heroku had a git outage today. It did not affect running applications, but did affect deployment.
