Re: ubuntu install problem

2012-04-09 Thread George
Nevermind. After some investigation I think I understand the issue,
and I think I need to upgrade to a more recent version of Ubuntu in
order to proceed.

ubuntu install problem

2012-04-09 Thread George
I'm getting the following error when I try to install Heroku toolbelt:

W: Failed to fetch http://toolbelt.heroku.com/ubuntu/./Packages.gz
302 Moved Temporarily [IP: 50.16.215.41 80]

I'm running Ubuntu 8.04, Hardy Heron. Full output of install attempt
is shown below.

Any suggestions?

George

Re: Slug size of Scala apps

2012-04-09 Thread Or Gal
hi James,
I managed to reduce slug from 79 to 49 by removing ivy cache. but isnt that
still a pretty big slug for a simple hello world? is there a way to reduce
it more? thanks

Bug: Invalid Argument using "rake db:data:dump_dir" with default directory

2012-04-09 Thread Evan Hsu
This bug pertains to the yaml_db gem version 0.2.2.
Using the dump_dir method attempts to create a new folder using the current
timestamp when no directory name is passed in.
However, this generates an invalid filename because of the ":" delimiter in
the time-of-day:

>> rake db:data:dump_dir
Invalid argument - C:/project/db/2012-04-08_11:55:21_-0700

This bug can be fixed by changing
/yaml_db-0.2.2/lib/tasks/yaml_db_tasks.rake, line 27 from:

dir = ENV['dir'] || "#{Time.now.to_s.gsub(/ /, '_')}"

to:

dir = ENV['dir'] || "#{Time.now.to_s.gsub(/ /, '_').gsub(/:/,'.')}"

Re: Gem Manifest deprecation

Hey David, thanks a lot for your reply.

Yes, I understand how frustrating that would be. Would requiring
specific versions solve it or you think people would keep making
mistakes?

Understood. I may add that it has the disadvantage of requiring a very
heavy dependency (Bundler), but I guess Heroku's best interest is to
push for the standardization of Bundler, as it simplifies its
operations. It would be great for me if the .gems manifest were
supported in its "strict" version, but I understand I'm part of a tiny
minority.
