AW: [Histonet] Air bubbles in Coverslipper
Hi, We always have more than one medium-bottle prepared. At least three are filled in advance. So entrapped air can go away until usage and the oldest is the one for exchange. We have a Leica CV5030 coverslipper in our lab and we regularly (~ once a week or so) have trouble with large air bubbles showing up in a significant number of our slides. We have flushed the hose from the mounting medium through the needle with xylenes which sometimes works to clear the bubbles and sometimes does not. Has anyone else had trouble with this and possibly found a solution? I would really appreciate your advice! RE: [Histonet] Air bubbles in Coverslipper
We have had success with this also. If you got the unit new, I believe that there should have been one extra bottle with it. -Original Message- From: histonet-boun...@lists.utsouthwestern.edu [mailto:histonet-boun...@lists.utsouthwestern.edu] On Behalf Of Gudrun Lang Sent: Saturday, August 03, 2013 5:16 AM To: 'Anna Huntley Coffey' Cc: histonet@lists.utsouthwestern.edu Subject: AW: [Histonet] Air bubbles in Coverslipper Hi, We always have more than one medium-bottle prepared. RE: [Histonet] Air bubbles in Coverslipper
I do not use an automatic cover-slipper so don't know if this will help. However the delete button is nearby. When we wanted to remove trapped air from any solution we gave the container a short period in an ultrasonic bath - 10 seconds or so (depending on viscosity of the solution. This worked well for some of the media we used before embedding in electron microscopy.
