[Histonet] Cleaning Dissection Tools

2013-05-17 Thread Langsdorf, Aliete
Hello Fellow Histonetters,

I have some very fine small dissection tools (small Vannas scissors, Dumont
#5s, etc) which I use for microdissections (under a dissecting scope.)
Afterwards they are often stained with blood or have tissue debris stuck to
them. Is there a standard protocol or particular type of soap that you use? I
want to get the blood/tissue off, but am afraid of marring/bending the fine
tips with scrubbing. I usually soak for a little while in warm soapy water and
then lightly clean with a Kim-wipe, but is there a better way? I have also
heard some people say they never use soap.
Some of my tools I use with PFA and others I use solely on tissue (no PFA) if
that makes a difference in how you clean.

Thanks for any suggestions!

[Histonet] Re: Anti-human nuclear antibody

2013-04-12 Thread Langsdorf, Aliete
You may also want to try the anti-NuMA antibody from cell signaling (#3888) -
(rabbit polyclonal). I have found it to be an extremely clean antibody,
excellent for detecting even one or two human cells lodged in mouse tissue.
Good luck!

[Histonet] PAP Pen With Aqueous Mounting Media

2013-04-11 Thread Langsdorf, Aliete
Hello All,
I would like to use a PAP pen to separate sections on my slide, but have been
using an aqueous (non-xylenes based) mounting media. How do you remove the PAP
pen without using xylenes? Is this done?
Thank you,
~Ally

[Histonet] EZ-TMA Kit?

2011-03-17 Thread Langsdorf, Aliete E.
Hi,

Has anyone used the EZ-TMA Kit for making your own tissue micro arrays?
I am trying to decide on which system to buy. So far, Quick-Ray and Arraymold
seem to be the favorites, but I would like to hear if anyone has tried EZ-TMA
before I make a decision.

Thanks!

Hi,
I am also interested in hearing about the ArrayMold vs Beecher vs any other
do-it-yourself TMA systems. Any favorites systems/recommendations or
suggestions?
Thanks
