I am trying to comply with the new guidelines set forth by CAP and ASCO with regard to Her2 and ER/PR and since my lab does not operate on the weekend we have been well above the 48 hour recommended formalin fixation time. Does 70% affect antigenicity for either Her2 or ER/PR? Any information or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Under the frequently asked questions on the CAP web site is the answer to Her2. It is still at 48 hours. So does this mean that I have to fix some of the tumor for her2 for only 48 hours, while the er/pr can be fixed 72 hours? -Original Message- From: histonet-boun...@lists.utsouthwestern.edu [mailto:histonet-boun...@lists.utsouthwestern.edu] On Behalf Of Richard Cartun Sent: Tuesday, April 20, 2010 10:07 AM To: anita dudley; histonet@lists.utsouthwestern.edu Subject: Re: [Histonet] new er pr cap guidelines I believe they are posted on the CAP website. I'm interested in how many institutions are performing Her2 on core needle biopsies. What protocols are you following as far as formalin fixation? The published protocol gives a minimum, but not a maximum.
