Re: [Histonet] Leak under Sakura Tissue-Tek TEC 5 embedding machine

2024-02-27 Thread Travis via Histonet
Hello,

It's a pretty common issue that shouldn't impact your embedding. The TEC 5 is
not air tight, so when its moved with paraffin filled to the rim, some of it
spills and falls into the cracks. Over time it builds up inside the unit by
melting and getting hard again. Until one day it moves all the way through unit
and leaks out at the lowest point (normally under one of the two chambers).
When we refurbished these units we open them up to find them filled with
paraffin but, it doesn’t really cause any problems other than a mess under the
unit. 

Subject: [Histonet] Leak under Sakura Tissue-Tek TEC 5 embedding machine

Hello,

Has anyone encountered a leak of liquid paraffin under their embedding machine?
We have a TEC 5 and I'm not sure where to start in trying to locate the leak.
If anyone has any insights, that would be great!

Thank you,
Merissa

Re: [Histonet] Leica Prisma problem

2022-09-22 Thread Travis via Histonet
Hello,

Assuming you are staining correctly, this issue most likely isn’t the
coverslipper itself. If the coverslipper is clean it should preform
correctly. The issue most likely stems from the roll of tape (Part# 4770).
It is a very hot time of the year, so make sure you are following all the
rules of Sakura's tape. Take note of the 24 hour rule on the back of 4770
box ,"Allow the film to completely acclimate to the environment in which it
will be used. The film package should be opened and stored in a dust-free
environment and a temperature range (50 - 86 F) and humidity levels between
30% - 70% for at least 24 hours prior to use."

Also, if the tape is exposed to temps over 104 F, it could ruin the product.

Subject: [Histonet] Leica Prisma problem

Hello everyone,

We have the Leica Prisma film coverslipper and suddenly, there are bubbles
underneath the film. I changed out the Xylene and inserted a new film roll
but the problem persists. Is there anything that you recommend to solve the
problem?

Thank you in advance,

Re: [Histonet] microtome pm

2022-06-28 Thread Travis via Histonet
Depends on the make and model, same way a classic car would need more upkeep
compared to 2022 model that is still under manufacturer warranty. 6 months
for an old microtome might be necessary

Hi everyone,

How often do you PM your microtomes? Currently, we have them done every 6
months but I'm thinking once a year is sufficient and I wanted to get some
input before we decide.

Thank you in advance,

Paula

Re: [Histonet] Intelsint tissue processors where are you?

2022-04-13 Thread Travis via Histonet
I would look into at the cost of the service contract after the warranty is
up. It is an Italian company, they keep having to switch American
distributors for some reason. They are not really sold on the 2nd hand
market (yet), so there is not much resell value. Also, don’t get melted
paraffin or xylene on the touch screen, it will render the unit unless.

Hi Sannon, I have one. Love it. The cost is more reasonable that you can
imagine.

Subject: [Histonet] Intelsint tissue processors where are you?

Hello out there Histology!

Are there any labs currently using the Intelsint processors in the US?
Previously in the US under model names such as RTP300, RTPH300, RTP360,
TRPH360, and RVG1. Most recently Intelsint models are known by TP300,
FTP300, ETP, and EFTP.

We recently met a few HTs who love these processors and want to hear more
about what experiences have been had. These processors are built like
tanks, most not requiring service in 5-7 years despite no PMs!Let me
know if you love yours?

If you're having trouble with yours please get in touch with me directly
today to discuss how PSi can resolve them. My email is
