Is it a CAP requirement to validate special stains just as you would IHC??

[Histonet] Validating Cytospin Special Stains

Would anyone be willing to share how to go about validating special stains
on cytospins?  Could you use past cases where you performed a GMS or AFB on
both cytospins and cell blocks and if the results correlated then
document?  Would 10 cases be enough?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

[Histonet] CAP checklist question

Good morning fellow histonetters!

I was wondering if anyone in VA would know the laws in reference to
checklist question ANP. 10016 in regards to the exclusion of submission of
tissue and removal of objects for Pathology examination?

CAP gave an example where California Department of Health Care Services
requires all tissues and objects removed during surgery to be submitted for
Pathology examination, unless a specific request is submitted to the state
requestinga variance.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
