Are you batch staining or you placing a control on every slide; if batches are
used  a good controld block will last  6 month or more. Placing a control on
every slide needing a stain will last 3 month. I will try to get you a block
free of charge. Cynthia James H.T

Hello,
Can anyone recommend a band saw for pathology? We are looking
for a new band saw for use in necropsy and research. It has to be a "meat" band
saw, as workshop band saws aren't compatible with wet tissue.
A table-top model is preferred, and cheaper than a floor model. (Plus, the
floor models all seem to come with a sausage-maker, which is pretty gross.)
If you have used a table-top band saw in your pathology lab,
I'd appreciate hearing from you.
Cheers!
Sandy

Is it better to remove baskets from the processor on Saturday morning and:

I am of the opinion that leaving the samples (not fatty, like breast cores)

What do you think?

Re: [Histonet] de-waxing protocol on instruments just fact finding

2015-06-22 Thread cynthia haynes

Only if you don't de-wax long enough.

De-wax for 10 minutes  in xylene  at least 3 changes each. Then dehydrate 5
minutes in 100 %  alcohol 3 changes each. Then 95% alcohol 2 changes each for 5
minutes. Then 80% 2 minutes each and finally 70% 1 minute, then rinse well in DI
h2o.

hope this helps.

Subject:[Histonet] de-waxing protocol on instruments just fact finding

Hi

Just beginning to look at instruments DAKO Ventana Leica. We may not have
the budget but if we do However talking to the sales reps have been
challenging as everything is proprietary.

This is for research consideration so we will use an open instrument? Which
instrument do you like better open?

Does  manual dewaxing affect the staining? Every rep says yes... but does
it?

What is the time for dewaxing when you start the instrument? What are the
number of steps in the protocol? What is the waste generation like more or
less than manual?

Thanks for your help.
