To All,

I just wanted to see what companies other labs are using for the maintenance of
their equipment(processor, embedder, microtomes...). We are located in south
jersey.

Thanks for your help

[Histonet] shrinkage during IHC

2010-11-06 Thread zodiac29

To All,

We are a lab that sends our specimens out for IHC and have just switched to
another reference laboratory for these services. Our pathologist is saying that
the tissue looks shrunk on the IHC slides, yet the slides that I process (HE,
and special stains)are fine. Does anyone know what is causing this? The
reference lab said it could be the type of slides that I use to mount the
sections we send to them. My knowledge in IHC is limited. Also, if this helps,
they are FFPE tissue.

Thanks for your help

[Histonet] filing unstained slides

2010-07-30 Thread zodiac29
To All,

Just wanted to know how other labs are filing their unstained slides?? If
filing along with stained coverslipped slides wouldn't the sections on the
unstained slides get scratched?? Any input is appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

[Histonet] toe nails falling off slides

2010-04-27 Thread zodiac29
To all,

I was wondering if anyone out there had any tips on how to keep toenail
sections from falling off slides. We mount them on positive slides, air dry for
about an hour but they still fall off. Any insight on the subject would be
greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

[Histonet] HT exam

2010-03-12 Thread zodiac29
Hello to all,

I am in the process of trying to study for the HT exam. I was wondering if
anyone has any study aids they would be willing to share? I would greatly
appreciate it. Right now I have F. Carson's book that I am reviewing. There is
so much information to study, I'm not sure how to approach it. Any advice would
be a great help.

Thanks,

[Histonet] fume exposure

2009-02-14 Thread zodiac29

To All,

I work in a lab where I stain and coverslip everything by hand. I coverslip
under a fume hood so there isn't much of an issue there. The main issue is my
exposue to fumes while staining. I do not stain under a fume hood. My exposure
times to these c hemicals is increasing becuase our volume is steadly
increasing as well. I can no longer tolerate these fumes and am expirenc ing
difficulty breathing and frequent headaches. What are labs that stain there
slides  by hand doing (types of masks, hoods) to minimize their exposure. If
you can recommed any specifics I would appreciate it.

Thank you in advance

Jenny
