I'm very sad to learn of her passing. She was a remarkable person. I didn't
know her well, but I always enjoyed speaking with her at meetings and learning
from her. Many years ago I bought her entire collection of bound
"Histotechnology" journals.

2022-01-13 Thread Akemi via Histonet
Rest In Peace Freida Carson, Ph.D, HT., This is such sad news. I have admired
Freida since I met her in the 70’s when I attended one of her workshops. She
has contributed immeasurably to the advancement of our Histotechnology
Profession, and has been an inspiration to young people entering our field.
Her books are considered the Holy Grail for passing the exam for the HT and HTL
Certification’s. Her legacy will continue through all who she has inspired.
December 2nd Freida turned 96. On December 15th, Baylor SW Medical University
in Dallas dedicated the new histology lab in honor of Freida and she attended
the ceremony. She will be greatly missed. 

[Histonet] Dr. Freida Carson Histology Lab

2021-12-02 Thread Willis, Donna G via Histonet
Good Morning Everyone,
On December 15, 2021 Baylor Scott Health Baylor University Medical Center
will be naming the Anatomic Pathology Department after Dr. Freida Carson. She
was a founding member of NSH and served as President and Speaker of the HOD for
many years. At Baylor she was the department leadership for 35 years, opening
one of the first NAACLS approved schools in the nation in 1971. Numerous
Histotechnician have had the privilege to have been trained by her or have used
one of the 5 editions of her Histology training book throughout the years.
Naming the lab after her is a little thing compared to what she has done for
our profession. I am excited that the Baylor Board of Trustees is honoring her
with this prestigious tribute.
