We currently do the H. pylori IHC stain on all gastric biopsies. Has anyone heard that Medicare will change, and we will no longer be able to do it on all cases? The last lab I worked in, in Tennessee, stopped doing it all cases, because of the Medicare changes. But, here in Arizona, they are still doing it. What's the scoop? -- Ms. Gareth B. Hello in Histoland! We use Cell Marque's polyclonal H.Pylori on our Ventana Benchmark Ultra with Ultraview DAB detection. We're having issues with a precipitate appearing on our slides. Has anyone else experienced this and has anyone had success in resolving the issue? Thank you for your answers. HP is difficult, we actually use a patien control from a positive case and cut approx 20 slides from each block. You can probably purchase them but they are costly. Sue Paturzo TJUH ___ Histonet mailing list Histonet@lists.utsouthwestern.edu http://lists.utsouthwestern.edu/mailman/listinfo/histonet

We do an H.P. routinely on stomach, body, fundus, antrum, pyloric, prepyloric, and gastric (Not on cardia area of stomach or GE jcn.) We use a kit from Newcomer Supply of a Steiner-Chapman modified Silver Stain. The pathologist's order an IHC for H.P. only about 5% of the time, if for example, they do not see H.P. from the silver stain, but the patient has a history of H.P. Sandy C.
