[Histonet] Processors and Coverslippers

2015-09-29 Thread Fran Pearsall via Histonet

Hello every one,

We are looking to purchase new equipment for our Histo lab. We are
interested in the Thermo Gemini AS heated stainer and also the Thermo
ClearVue Coverslipper. Can any one share their thoughts and opinions on
these pieces of equipment? How well do the 2 work together or go with a
stand alone coverslipper? Thank you for any suggestions.

At this moment, just like in automobiles, all tissue processor can give you a

Having said that, you ask for a comparison between 2, the Leica ASP300 vs.

VIP6 wins hands down, at least for me!

When I was evaluating the different processors in order to purchase a new one,
I took all three manufacturers' brochures (Leica, Sakura and Thermo) and did a
spreadsheet of the features.  I was raised on Sakura but the Leica won -
hands down - and the Thermo didn't even place.  Service and reliability for the
Leica beat the other two handily - and knowing that German engineering is a
known quality was the kicker.  I'm not employed by Leica, but I played one on
TV (huh?).

The cells are in a multi-well tissue culture dish and have only been labeled

What type of battery back-up are you using. The type that is purchased
from a local office supply store is to low of amps to supply the
processor with power. I don't think that the power supply would be
large enough to supply power for a couple of hours, or is it?

Subject: [Histonet] Processors and power outages

What type of battery back-up are you using. The type that is purchased
from a local office supply store is to low of amps to supply the
processor with power. I don't think that the power supply would be
large enough to supply power for a couple of hours, or is it?

Thanks,

I demoed the VIP 6 and it is a nice machine. I ended up purchasing the ASP 300

I need advice from you wonderful techs about what processor would be best for a
Derm Lab.  I am going to the NSH next week and with your advice I will be able
to look at some. I work now in a hospital and we have 2 VIP (Sakura)
processors. I like them very much. But for a derm lab would some of the express
processors be better.  Thank for all your help.
