We have used VIP in the past and it was adequate. We use the Leica Peloris as
our main processor and love it.

[Histonet] RE: Tissue Processor Location in the Lab

2014-10-30 Thread Morken, Timothy
Tim, We have a separate room for the tissue processors. We have a chemical fume
hood for pouring all chemicals into carboys via a funnel that is in a hole cut
in the hood work surface, and a carboy directly beneath. We also have a fume
extraction system above each tissue processor that is designed to pull any
fumes up and away from anyone working at that processor. It does not enclose
the processor, but sits above it.

Hi Everyone:

Even though many tissue processors are closed systems with fume filters, do
people try to put them next to fume hoods or under some ventilation duct to add
an extra layer of protection from solvent fumes?

Thanks,

[Histonet] Re: Tissue processor times

2009-12-04 Thread Miyamoto, Garret T Mr CIV USA USAMEDCOM
Carol,
We just obtained a VIP 6 processor and we have a program for routine overnight
processing. It seems to work well. I will send or fax it to you by Monday.
The Tissue-tek sales rep that installed and trained us, mentioned about
increasing the times in the alcohols for fatty/breast tissue. You can try this
and make any adjustments to the program I am sending. We have two stations of
formalin at two hours each. As a side note, we have two Excelsior processors
also and except for a few glitches, they seem to work fine. Take care.

[Histonet] (Re)Tissue processor issues

2009-02-04 Thread Fye Beth

We have an ASP 300 and have had it for 3 years. Initially we had a lot of
trouble, and it was always breaking the O-rings on the reagent bottles. We
can't remember the exact problem, but think it had something to do with a
torque that was to high.
Recently we had problems with pressure intermittently and they replaced valves
inside. Other than that it has been a very reliable processor, and actually
processes our tissue the best of all our processors, including a VIP5.
