Re: [Histonet] Spill kits

2016-06-14 Thread Lester Raff MD via Histonet
We keep our spill kits in unobstructed cabinets with bright yellow signage on
the wall above. We have no problem getting to them as needed, and have never
had an issue in many, many CAP inspections.

Do spill kits need to be out where anyone can see them, or can I put it in a
cupboard with a sign on the door? I need to move mine and there's very little
room. Thanks Anne ___

What you need to do is to communicate to everybody where the kits are, and
place them where it is more convenient for you. Once everybody knows the
location, a good sign is always a plus.René

[Histonet] spill kits

2014-01-07 Thread Webb, Dorothy L
You can go through any company pretty much, but remember you need a formalin
spill kit as well as a solvent spill kit (for xylene and other spills)

Where do you get your spill kit? Do you have a company and part number? Thanks!

Document, document, document! Believe me, you will get dinged on this if it is
not documented, we found out first hand :(

Are they looking for documentation that it's been checked, or will they take
your word for it?

Newest CAP inspection stupid thing. They want you to periodically check your
spill kit for clumping, since it does not have an expiration date. I challenged
it, but don't know if will go through.

Don't forget to make sure you have a spill kit and its labeled well with easy
access, Inspectors will ask employees if they know where it and your fire
extinguisher and alarm are located. Anne

What safety items do you keep in your lab besides the normal apron, gloves, eye
wash stations and shower? Thanks!
