RE: [Histonet] Methanol
Thank you, But they weren't concerned with the methanol in the formalin, it was the methanol that the med techs were using. My question is really how do you know when you have to do air quality testing. Is it a question of quantity of a chemical? I'm not sure if this is something we need to include in our plan, it was never tested for in the past. How can we find out specifically which chemicals we need to monitor? RE: [Histonet] Methanol
We had methanol monitored at one facility that I worked at. If you have it done once and it is below the PEL and you don't make changes to the procedure/use you don't need to do it again. RE: [Histonet] Methanol
I would contact OSHA and tell them the specifics. The possible vapor contribution of 4 ml of methanol, if it is even measurable, is certainly insignificant from a health/safety perspective. ___ Histonet mailing list Histonet@lists.utsouthwestern.edu http://lists.utsouthwestern.edu/mailman/listinfo/histonet
Re: [Histonet] methanol vs ethanol in processing
Probably not but processing with methanol is a very bad idea. It is highly toxic and tends to make tissues somewhat brittle. René J.
