60-68 degrees C ranges are preferred, above that temperature one can begin to cause many problems with; staining, nuclear bubbling, antigen retrieval to name a few problems that have been recorded. Peggy Wink does a great 30 min CEU presentation on some of these problems through the NSH Webinar
