Annoyed? No. I for one am quite happy that Valve did not waste any time
making an HL2DM mod which nobody would play beyond the first few days
after release. Making CSS the multiplayer component of HL2 was a very
smart move.
You want DM and no single player? Go back to Quake 3. :P

[hlds] OT: Upgrade from Bronze HL2 package...

2004-11-16 Thread List Keeper
Valve,

Please incluce a method to upgrade from the Bronze HL2 package to the Silver or
Gold in Steam where we can just pay the difference. I accidently bought Bronze
for one of my accounts, and now I cannot play HL1:Source.

Instead of being able to upgrade I am shown this message:

Thank you!
You have already purchased Half-Life 2 on Steam. At present, only one HL2 offer
may be purchased per Steam account.

[hlds] is anyone else annoyed?

2004-11-16 Thread Ripley
at the lack of multiplayer support?
I mean come on... what does valve think made half-life so popular in the
first place? Sure the single player is fun for however long it takes you to
finish it, but its the multiplayer that makes a game survive for 6 or 7
years like the original halflife. And now Half-life: Source doesn't even
give you multiplayer?!?!?! What is the point of it then? We've all played
the single player part before...
I'm hoping Valve patches this sometime in the near future. Counterstrike
multiplayer is not a suitable substitute for all the gamers out there like
me that can't stand the round-based play.
COME ON VALVE!!! Give us some HL2DM

[hlds] HL2 Bug Followup

2004-11-16 Thread TJ Hilton
Following up on my previous post...

I restarted steam, and this time it gives me a validating games
message and goes through and does it's little steam validation thingy.

I fire up HL2 again, and pick up from my last save point... no dice.
So I go back to the last save point before this level "water hazard".
I do the whole level over and wahlah. Everything is fine now...

http://img60.exs.cx/img60/4190/hl2OK.jpg

So I guess it just hadn't finished loading and or validating
which is wierd because it said it was all OK.

Sorry if this was a little Off topic, please accept my appology and go
back to bashing Gabe and promoting your own hosting / virtual control
pannel companies.

You can play it offline by entering offline mode within steam. However
the game will need to be authenticated after installation which requires
an internet connection.

Surely when it has hit gold status the release date is set and that is it
people wait and it comes like that. Their release date is the 16th November
2004 and people should expect it then end of story.
I know that there has been a LONG wait for HL2 but the gold status has set
a
firm date for the release.

mean,
we are talking about the release of what may be the the most anticipated
