RE: [hlds] First HL-DM alpha playable mod with 4 maps is already out.
This will not be popular (or fun) until a dedicated server version is released. Until then, it will be hosted off of crappy cable/DSL connected home PC's. Any news on a srcds version of this!?!? I'd host from my datacenter box!!! -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of unsane Sent: Wednesday, November 24, 2004 5:35 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: [hlds] First HL-DM alpha playable mod with 4 maps is already out. RE: [hlds] HL2 Review- CyberGameZone
which was too short...but still a fun game. The original hl had so much depth, interesting puzzles that made it more than just point and shoot, great graphics so it wasn't just using darkness as the enemy, there were actual enemys. It wasn't like avp where you just run and something jumps out of the dark and scares the shiznot out of you. The game actually had some good ai and a point. avp was ok..but who needs the nightmares.:>) ..who needs to go blind from squinting in the dark either. I wonder if in 10-20 years people will start sueing game designers over their bad eyesight from poorly lit games that used darkness as the gimic? /sorry to jump off the technical again guys Have a happy Thanksgiving all. :>) From: "K. RE: [hlds] Re: hlds digest, Vol 1 #3242 - 15 msgs
lol, I didn't follow it through. They charged somebody with the deed, eh? Yea, I was basically just spouting off on a tangent. ati and nvidia couldn't have planned it better though. We were thinking a year ago we "had" to have a 9800pro or better to run it. And people were actiing like they "had" to have it "stat". From: "K. I am very suprised valve didn't incorperate them as sven coop is an excellent mod. They should have bought him out and hired him to design the thing already. also I hear people have already played through the whole of hl2 after a day or two One of the coolest things about the first one was the enormous depth of the game in my opinion. Most games would have been over and done with before I was even "getting into" the half life game. What a dissapointment if you guys played through it that quickly...I remember how robbed I felt when I got to the end of the "blue shift" expansion. I never even used all the guns the manual talked about. Opposing force was in between the two as far as depth. No doubt there will be expansions but if the first one was already short. Personally I wonder if the whole "source code theft" thing was engineered. They sure pumped up the video card market with all the hype. I wonder how many hundreds of thousands of 9800 pros have been sold since. Then nvidia was scrambling to make up the alleged performance difference. They both sold a heck of a lot of cards because "we needed em to play hl2" that will be "comming out soon" over the last year. The delay sure was good for the video card markethm. All that time and the game is short sheeted? I think I'll wait till it comes out on vhs, lol. >From: "Bruce \"Bahamut\" Andrews" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> >Reply-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] >To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] >Subject: Re: [hlds] Re: hlds digest, Vol 1 #3242 - 15 msgs >Date: Thu, 18 Nov 2004 02:59:25 +1000 > >Wazoo wrote: > >>What about a cooroporative mode where you can go through the levels >>with other players?
