Re: [hlds] Alfred Can we get some up to date STEAM Cache Installation files please?
I'm not sure that this can be completly true as the whole of steam, half life 2 and counter strike was put on to this months PC Gamer (UK) coverdisc. You only needed a valid steam account to unlock it. Can you share the reason for that decision Alfred please? HL Mods have the popularity they have due to the supporting communities servers the resources they supply free of charge to players. Re: [SPAM] RE: [hlds] Re: banner in downloadurl
You have to have a web server for the sv_downloadurl parameter right? Nod your head yes because yes you do. Try this: Create your advertisement as a web page in your autodownload website. Use ASP/PHP and you can even have one of those irritating rotating banner ads on the page. Then create a motd.txt file in your cstrike directory containing nothing but the url to your ad page. Example motd.txt contents: http://www.noclans.com/motd.asp (Note: The asp page referenced above plays a random wav file when the player joins the game. Plays it once, no looping, etc.) There you go. No further need for the downloading banner ad. Enjoy! Jack wrote: Can you share the reason for that decision Alfred please? [hlds] Getting the server running first time...
Dear gurus, I'm have been setting my CS:source ded. server to run for few days not, and it's my first time for this game...I have been administrating many other ded. servers like Call Of Duty, Medal Of Honor etc. for years so not a complete newbie ;) Anyway, I got my server running by following some guides I found from Steam's forum. Made by Lady Racquel. I got my server running just fine, at least it says that got connection to Steam's servers. I can see the server when I add it to the favorite servers, I can connect to this server from other computers, but it doesn't seem to appear at the main list, so I don't get any random users coming...What could be reason for that? I shouldn't have any blocking from the firewall, which is Sygate's. I have been using the very same hardware / software for COD etc. games servering without problems. Even if I disable Sygate, it doesn't affect. And I have 100% direct connection to Internet without any operators limitations. Help! :) Keijo.
