RE: [hlds] CS 1.6 Cheating (and delay banning does not work)

2005-07-31 Thread James Grimstead
It is very frustrating really, im getting more disappointed as the weeks go
by like last week without an update at all. And it took the mick over a
week ago when they released a CSS update, which "Optimized cpu usage" and
that was it!

I always look forward to tuesdays and fridays because these are the main
release dates, and when nothing happens or 1 thing happens its just really
bad.

The thing I would like to know is, how much attention does VAC actually get
at Valve. How many people are actually working on it. What has a higher
priority. It does seem like VAC has a very low priority. Surly it would be
better to throw everything at VAC to get it out the way, freeing up the
resources to finish DoD:S and other upcomming games... Once the final
release of DoD:S then start the patching aswell as VAC updating.

By the way, is VAC going to be the only way to stop cheats in HL1 now? I
mean, will there be any patching going on to fix the security holes there
are?

Thats my 2pence for now..

Regards
James

I'd like to know how much longer it's going to be till they release the hl1
update that enables VAC2 by default like css has now.

Re: [hlds] WON authentification

2005-07-31 Thread Oum

Don't think we need official word about this Steam (and so CS1.6) was
officially released on September 12, 2003
(http://steampowered.com/index.php?area=news&archive=yes&id=183)
and WON officially shut down on July 31, 2004
(http://steampowered.com/index.php?area=news&archive=yes&id=279)

From 09/12/2003 to 07/31/2004 it was possible to play by Steam (CS 1.6) or

WON (CS 1.5), whatever you did like.
(we are not talking about beat releases of course)

I think with a simple Google you can find a Steam version of CS 1.5...

Yes, I know, I stayed on 1.5 for a long time. I only switched to Steam a
year ago. I was just giving the Steam/1.6 start date for reference. 1.6
has been released for 2.5 years after all. Remember when everyone
believed
that the tactical shield would ruin the game. LOL

[hlds] TFC Client 57 error

2005-07-31 Thread Steve Pemberton
This is a multi-part message in MIME format.
--
[ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ]
Does anyone have any knowledge of what this error is? We experience it
quite regularly on our 30 player server where by it just mass kicks the
majority of players from the server, and they see a client 57 error.

Server wise, all you tend to see is something like:

L 07/31/2005 - 13:26:37: "Player<3203><#Dustbowl_team1>"
disconnected

Regards

SteveP
