2008-04-02 Thread Tom Leighton
If you were subscribed ot the hlds_linux list you would have got it.

The Linux Team Fortress 2 dedicated server update is now available.
This is not a required update, but strongly recommended since it fixes
the crash on changelevel.

Re: [hlds] Request: Steam Friends API

2008-04-02 Thread Sebastian Staudt
As always with propietary software, it would be really nice to have some
interfaces opened for other developers.
Not only some for Friends, but also something to use for creating web
applications based on the Community or something like that.
XML feeds for game stats and so on would be great for example.

More interfaces = more useful. ;)

That's my opinion, at least.

Re: [hlds] connection lost when first time connected

2008-04-02 Thread Robert Whelan
Yes..

I've started seeing this as well (probably over the last month or so). It
happens anytime I join and any map I play (default maps inc.). I join to play
and usually by the time I get into the game, pick a team/class and say hi... I
see what you described.

If I try to get back in to early its says my id is already in use and if I view
the server via hlsw I do see myself still connected. Typically I wait about 15
seconds and retry... once I'm back in the game I'm good to go.

Seems many in our community suffer from this, you're not alone.

I really hafve a annoying bug in TF2. Don't know if you guys have the same
props, but everytime I connect to a tf2 server (atleast our 2 tf2 server on
different locations/servers) I get a red message in the right upper corner
saying the connection is timed out.

Its really strange, because the connection isn't timed out. I don't get
kicked from the internet and there are other players still playing on the
server. If I reconnect everyting is fine again.

yeah, we had that aswell. We had tv enabled on 3 of our servers and it
was those that kept kicking people, the others were fine.

probably our servers just required a restart.. dunno

Re: [hlds] Request: Steam Friends API

2008-04-02 Thread Spencer 'voogru' MacDonald
I already have my own lookup tool that basically opens the steam community
page for a profileid that's generated from a steam id.

http://forums.alliedmods.net/showthread.php?t=60899

The issue is, it's a lot more intensive than a specialized interface. Right
now all I use it for is banning entire groups from my server.

Steam community is great in that regard, player in the myg0t group? Free
automatic ban for you.

You can easily use my toolkit (not quite automagically) I have a steamid
lookup to the community page under the Steam System Scan button:

[hlds] connection lost when first time connected

2008-04-02 Thread Eric van Beesten
I really hafve a annoying bug in TF2. Don't know if you guys have the same
props, but everytime I connect to a tf2 server (atleast our 2 tf2 server on
different locations/servers) I get a red message in the right upper corner
saying the connection is timed out.

Its really strange, because the connection isn't timed out. I don't get
kicked from the internet and there are other players still playing on the
server. If I reconnect everyting is fine again.

Either that or they implement a ten second timer where you can't close that
dialog box.

Re: [hlds] Team Fortress 2/Dedicated Server update released

2008-04-02 Thread Roman Hatsiev
Most annoying thing is that Custom tab is not available in Steam
client. Thus the same server appears on Internet tab in Steam client
and on Custom tab of the in-game browser which stupid, ridiculous and
confusing. No one is going to understand the logic behind this and any
number of educational dialogs won't help it. Either add Custom tab to
Steam client or remove it from in-game browser.
