A purge option would be nice--It definitely is.
I'll be making a SM plugin that basically does what Voogru described in his
previous reply (log disconnects/names/IPs/etc in a MySQL DB), and will release
it on the SM forums when I finish it. If enough people want, I'll reply again
with a link when it's finished.

Well, anything can be done with SourceMod if you make the proper C++
extensions.

But I don't feel like writing hundreds of extensions, I just want to code :)

What can't be done through SourceMod?

Indeed it does have threaded sql implementations.
SourceBans already provides a ban system similar to yours, a command
blocker plugin could be written in 5 minutes and the stat tracking (or
what i've seen of it) would be relatively simple to implement.
We haven't had any requests for this sort of thing yet but if there ever
was a serious demand, I'm sure someone could write plugins for this.

[hlds] Boosted Performance VS Nonboosted Performance

2008-06-10 Thread 1nsane
Hi Everyone!

I've started looking into the effects of the fpsboost on CPU usage/ the FPS
themselves and found a few oddities .

For example, which would be better? Boosted 66 fps or nonboosted 66 (fpx_max
66)?

Nonboosted running at ~62 +/- fps while using around 2% total CPU or "5.47"
per core on a full server (hoovers around "0.00" most of the time)
http://is1337.net/boostsrcds/nonboosted.PNG

Boosted running at ~62 +/- fps while using around 47% total CPU or "77.84"
per core on a full server.
http://is1337.net/boostsrcds/boosted_66.PNG

Also what would the CPU usage difference be between say fps_max 60 and
fps_max 999 when boosted?
60 boosted:
http://is1337.net/boostsrcds/boosted_60.PNG
900 boosted:
http://is1337.net/boostsrcds/boosted_fps.PNG
http://is1337.net/boostsrcds/booster_900-p2.PNG
300 boosted:
http://is1337.net/boostsrcds/boosted_fps.PNG

No difference... both use up the same amount of CPU to do either 60 fps or
600+

So my question being... Which is better? Seeing that at the same fps_max
level the Total CPU usage can go from 2% to 50% just by running the boost...
What do you guys think?

Re: [hlds] Team Fortress 2 Update Released

2008-06-10 Thread Keeper
Always good advice for any server update. If it crashes, remove the plugins
and add them in one by one. If you find the culprit is one of the plugins,
then visit that plugin's website and see what the chatter is there. Most of
us jump on the plugins to get them fixed quickly once an update comes out.

 The 3 largest tables are:

 "players":
(internal playerid, first name used, last name used, IP, Steam ID,
 connections, last connection), 153,000+ records @ 17.7MB.

This is every player who has ever been on any of my servers.

 "playernames":
Every name a player has used and when he last used it. 145,000+ records @
8.3MB (I started tracking every name a few months after).

 "playersessions":
Every session a player has done on my server, contains their internal
playerid, the amount of seconds the session lasted, and the time and date
the session ended. 406,000+ records @ 9.5MB, I only started recording this
data since March 14th 2008. I use this data to build graphs to keep track
 of
the amount of player hours on a daily basis.

Keeping track of players that play on my server has been proven to be
 quite
 useful on several occasions.
