[hlds] shutting down all of my game servers

2008-09-26 Thread Kevin Ottalini
Real Life has intruded on virtual reality, today is the last day for me to
run my game servers.

I've been running Valve servers since 2002 and playing HL since it first
hit the shelves in 1998.

It's been quite a run and some very memorable times indeed.

I've had the great pleasure to work with many great map authors and with
them have released 40+ maps for HLDM, HLDM:Source, HL2DM, CSS and DOD:S, I
still have a few left to finish.

I'll be relocating soon and hope to land a job, wish me luck!

I also have a batch level compile tool for Source games almost finished if
any of you are interested. Please see screenshots here:
http://qsextreme.com/vbct

It'll only be a few more days now and I'll be able to release the tool to
the public.

Re: [hlds] Counter-Strike 1.6 Beta updated

2008-09-26 Thread Alfred Reynolds
The fix for this just went live so make sure you update your servers. We
have much better error reporting in this beta build so it would really
help if we could get more people up and running on servers, I have
already fixed a few long standing crashes with your help :)

Re: [hlds] uploading files

2008-09-26 Thread Chris
If you're competant with shell scripting it's easy to do. I've written a
script which I pass the path after the mod dir, and the file in question. It
then goes ahead and updates the file on all 23 servers I run which are
running different games, on different physical boxes, in different
installation paths.

GameCreate ( http://www.gamecreate.com/ ) allows you to update files all
in one go perfectly. I highly recommend it, however, it may take a bit
of configuring to setup correctly.

2008-09-26 Thread Pentium100
If you use FTP, then you can script it

create a file:

open ftp.server.example.com
myUser
myPass
cd dir1/dir2/dir3
type text
send file1.ext
send file2.ext
quit

now create a batch file or just type this command

ftp -s:script1.txt

SmartFTP handles connections to more than one server at a time in a tabbed
interface, and can auto-connect to any servers on startup.. That's what I
personally use and I haven't had any problems.. You'll still have to
navigate just a tad, but all 6 servers could be opened in the FTP client at
the same time, which seems like the crux point of your problem..

Hope this helps,

[hlds] uploading files

2008-09-26 Thread Eric van Beesten
Maybe somebody else can help me with a small problem.

Our community has 6 different servers with all sourcemod and customs maps on
it. If I want to adjust some advertisement (sourcemod plugin) I need to
upload 6 times 1 .txt files to the different servers. So basicly I do the
following handlings:

Connect to server 1
Go to sourcemod config map
Upload advertisement.txt
Disconnect from server 1
Connect to server 2
Go to sourcemod config map
Upload advertisement.txt
Disconnect from server 2
Connect to server 3
Go to sourcemod config map
Upload advertisement.txt
Disconnect from server 3

Etc...

Although the files are really small, sometimes a few kb or less, its really
annoying to do all this handling to every server.

Isnt there some sort of program where you can upload those files without all
those handlings? Where you can only add 1 file and the program connects
automaticly to all those server and upload it to the sourcemod config map?

Greetz,

eric
