Re: [hlds] [SOLVED]TF2 Issue Unable to Connect: Engine Error.
Just found out with Source that you can no longer run a dedicated server, and play on the same machine as the server is on. I had to turn my Half-Life Dedicated Server off to connect to my TF2 Linux Server. I do not know what changed, but whatever it was needs to be fixed. -- From: crypto...@cryptodan.com Sent: 20 February, 2009 03:03 To: Half-Life dedicated Win32 server mailing list hlds@list.valvesoftware.com Subject: Re: [hlds] TF2 Issue Unable to Connect: Engine Error Very nice off topic and not very contructive posting. So who are you and what is your forum name so I can ignore you on the forums, and what is your SteamID so I can block you. Wait, what? What does your linux server have to do your client machine not being able to connect? Have you tried checking your cables? Maybe you have a bad internet connection and it's fouling up your steam auth ... Try calling you cable company and tell them your screen is fuzzy, that should get them out to check on stuff quicker. -mauirixxx - Sent from my #hlserveradmins IRC fanboyism -Original Message- From: hlds-boun...@list.valvesoftware.com [mailto:hlds-boun...@list.valvesoftware.com] On Behalf Of Daniel Reinhardt Sent: Thursday, February 19, 2009 12:00 PM To: Half-Life dedicated Win32 server mailing list Subject: Re: [hlds] TF2 Issue Unable to Connect: Engine Error Yes, but prior to the 16th and 18th updates this ran perfectly fine. I know about the +clientport launch option, and that doesn't even work. So far I have seen only one person connect. When I try to join other servers, okay this is bizarre when I stop HLDM Server on my machine I am playing from it works. When I run the HLDM Server TF2 fails to load up. No other games have conflicts or issues with this but TF2. I can host HLDM on the same machine and play other games like DoD:S and CSS just fine, and I can also play Left 4 Dead just fine. So something in the client or server update is causing this issue. TF2 ignores the launch option of +clientport to use a different client point then 27015. I have TF2 listening on Port 27017. [hlds] How to disable/block sprays?
I'm just wondering how to block sprays on my servers, I know on client side there is an option to disable them locally, but I want them blocked completely. sv_allowupload 0 doesn't stop them sv_allowdownload 0 - not sure if this stops them, but doesnt help me on my custom map server where I need to alow downloads. From this wiki: http://supportwiki.steampowered.com/wiki/Guide:_Setting_up_a_Standalone_Dedicated_Server It says: sv_send_logos # - Set to 1 to allow the server to send custom sprays back to all players (this is under the heading HLDS CVARS - but directly below that it says Use the following CVARs to control how the HLDS/SRCDS manages resources). sv_send_logos isnt available in srcds it seems, so it's a bit misleading... Anyway... Does anyone have any suggestions? Re: [hlds] How to disable/block sprays?
Hi, Use that both: sv_allowupload 0 sv_allowdownload 0 That does stop it. And for custom content, use sv_downloadurl. Works well on my servers. I don't have sprays, but a lot of custom sounds which are downloadable via server connect. tf_stats_track does absolutely nothing. [hlds] Valve accidentally the whole steam - Random stuttering?
Everything is down! Okay, it happens, but what i'm concerned about is: Every client on every one of my servers, including myself, is freezing (video freeze, not network freeze) every few seconds. Everyone's bailing. This hasn't happened before when steam's down. Whatever it is, it's emptying my servers and pissing off lots of players. Re: [hlds] Valve accidentally the whole steam - Random stuttering?
Yes, the Steam network is very much down. I'm also getting random suttering. It's happening to every server. It is imossible to join a GMod server, as you instantly get dropped with the error Invalid Steam key size., which spawns in console. Re: [hlds] Server Crash Map Change
If you're not getting mdmps and your server is rebooting it's more likely the program keeping your server online is rebooting your server because the queries aren't going through.
