Sounds like a great idea to me! See if you can get some attention over on fpsbanana. Also agree with Arg! it would be great from a mappers perspective to be automated and easy as well. I think if there was a web based interface for booking time and uploading maps etc it would be a great idea. If its not all automated though it will be a nightmare to run. [hlds] Question for Map Makers
So, I'm going to avoid turning this into an advertising message and dispense with the details.. But I wanted to ask a quick question. Basically, I have an extra 32 slot server that is doing jack right now, and I was thinking about maybe turning it into a dedicated map development server. It's primary purpose would be for map makers to have a mainstream pub server to test their maps on and such. It would be donation-based and geared towards helping map makers debug, and at the same time grow the overall popularity on their map. Maybe even have a few lulz? I was just wondering about what you fellow admins thought about the validity of such an endeavor, or maybe if you knew anyone that would be willing to take advantage of such a resource. Anyway, like I said this isn't meant to be an advertisement of any type but I would appreciate some feedback regarding such an idea, or maybe just pass my address along to anyone you think might be interested. As always, thanks for your feedback. -Matt ___ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds
Re: [hlds] [TF2] - Map Change not executing server.cfg
Just because he refuses to assume you're _NOT_ an idiot doesn't mean he's assuming you are, just that he's reserving judgement... though your attitude is rapidly removing doubt. I've got an echo line in the top of each of my .cfg files, to make it easier when looking over the logs to see the flow of .cfg execution... otherwise, on windows anyway, I'd start up process monitor and check what files are accessed on mapchange. For what it's worth, not getting that issue here on Linux or windows. > -Original Message- > From: hlds-boun...@list.valvesoftware.com [mailto:hlds- > boun...@list.valvesoftware.com] On Behalf Of turb0z > Sent: 15 June 2009 20:58 > To: 'Half-Life dedicated Win32 server mailing list' > Subject: Re: [hlds] [TF2] - Map Change not executing server.cfg > > Thanks for assuming I'm an idiot, helps a lot! > > This has been no help, thanks anyway guys. > > -Original Message- > From: hlds-boun...@list.valvesoftware.com > [mailto:hlds-boun...@list.valvesoftware.com] On Behalf Of msleeper > Sent: Monday, June 15, 2009 2:35 PM > To: Half-Life dedicated Win32 server mailing list > Subject: Re: [hlds] [TF2] - Map Change not executing server.cfg > > I am pretty sure this is a local issue you're having. What is your server.cfg? Does it exec the other cfg file? I'm sorry, maybe I wasn't being clear enough with my e-mail. I'm not interested in hearing about possible work-arounds. I know how the map-specific config files work and I know a work-around will help bandaid the situation. What I'm wondering is if anyone else can confirm this happening? The bottom line is something broke and it's not working the way it used to. Whether this be intentional or not, I'd like to know if anyone else is seeing this. Perhaps valve will then see the multiple "oh yeah, confirmed this is happening on my dedicated servers" and then we can just hope for a fix from Valve. exec server.cfg in your amxx.cfg file works a treat. Re: [hlds] [TF2] - Map Change not executing server.cfg
Yeah, AutoExec is not a viable solution. I would rather see Valve identify this as something that's broken then try a work around. Even still, if Valve changed something, then I just need to know what we need to do to see the same behavior we did before the last update. I have server.cfg being executed on server launch and, up until the last update, map changes exec'd server.cfg so that the hostname would revert back if we used some sort of league config. It's not game breaking by any means; it's just an annoyance I'd rather not deal with since it's never really acted like this with any valve-based HLDS game I've managed. -Original Message- From: hlds-boun...@list.valvesoftware.com [mailto:hlds-boun...@list.valvesoftware.com] On Behalf Of Brent Veal Sent: Monday, June 15, 2009 11:33 AM To: Half-Life dedicated Win32 server mailing list Subject: Re: [hlds] [TF2] - Map Change not executing server.cfg I don't know 100%, but I would assume that autoexec only loads when the server is started On Mon, Jun 15, 2009 at 9:26 AM, Matthew Gottlieb < matthew.j.gottl...@gmail.com> wrote: > Autoexec is only ran when the server is launched though, right? > > On Sun, Jun 14, 2009 at 11:01 PM, Michael Krasnow wrote: > > if the hostname was changed then it should revert back if not try putting > it > > also in the autoexec.cfg > > > > On Sun, Jun 14, 2009 at 11:50 PM, turb0z wrote: > > > >> I've noticed since the last update that when performing a map change > after > >> executing a league config (CEVO, TWL, etc) the hostname doesn't revert > back > >> to what the server.cfg file has configured. > >> > >> > >> > >> Wondering if anyone else notices this? Well what you can also do is for each map is make a .cfg with a different hostname that is fool proof it just sucks if you have many maps On 6/15/09, Matthew Gottlieb wrote: > Autoexec is only ran when the server is launched though, right? > > On Sun, Jun 14, 2009 at 11:01 PM, Michael Krasnow wrote: >> if the hostname was changed then it should revert back if not try putting >> it >> also in the autoexec.cfg >> >> On Sun, Jun 14, 2009 at 11:50 PM, turb0z wrote: >> >>> I've noticed since the last update that when performing a map change >>> after >>> executing a league config (CEVO, TWL, etc) the hostname doesn't revert >>> back >>> to what the server.cfg file has configured. >>> >>> >>> >>> Wondering if anyone else notices this?
