Re: [hlds] Test

2010-07-11 Thread DontWannaName!
Can you by chance update the mailman version, I believe there is a security
hole in the version that is being used. The list page says version 2.1.11 in
the footer, current is version 2.1.13.

2010-07-11 Thread Bryn Moslow
Yes. Sorry, didn't mean to start any controversy. I had just finished replacing
the mailing list server and wanted to trace a message through the system to
make sure everything worked correctly. At that particular moment there was no
mail in or out so I sent one myself.

Did you guys consider he could be testing something on Valve's side or the
mailinglist side, and this is done on purpose?

[hlds] Left 4 Dead 2 - Updated consistency check denies default game installs in versus mode

2010-07-11 Thread Mohammed Abdela
After the update to 2.0.2.6 many users are having trouble connecting to my
server. They get the error "pak01_xxx failed consistency check" when they
try to connect. Now I guess this is because the latest update changed the
way the pure and consistency check works somehow? But the thing is, some of
the users that has this error are friends of mine, and they have default
game installs with default .vpk files so they shouldnt be getting this
error. Also observe that they get this error in team versus/versus mode and
not when the server runs campaign mode for example.

Some people are saying that downloading the Left 4 Dead 2 Addon Support
client side fixes this. I can't confirm or deny this, but I can say that me
who has addon support installed can connect fine, while my friend who does
not have addon support installed can't connect. Is the case here that you
have to have the addon support to be able to connect to versus games? Maybe
the addon support modyfies the .vpk files, and the consistency check checks
crc against the addon support modded .vpks, and therefore "normal" game
installs without the addon support installed fails the consistency check?
